Blazer EV and Equinox EV interiors and screens reinvent what Chevys can look like.

  • An expansive 17.7-inch diagonal free-form display screen tilted toward the driver will be standard on Blazer EV and available on Equinox EV.
  • Interior designers focused on integrating the tech in a way that optimizes the owner experience.

Looking inside Chevrolet’s all-electric SUVs, most people notice the expansive display screen or modern, minimalistic feel. Arthur Louro, however, sees each individual stitch, air vent, and seam.

Louro is a creative designer at Chevrolet who helped design the interiors of the Blazer EV (SS, shown, available fall 2023) and Equinox EV (available starting fall 2023).

“WE WANTED TO FOCUS ON THE TECHNOLOGY AND MAKING THE INTERIOR FLOW NICELY AROUND THAT.”

— ARTHUR LOURO

He and other designers were presented with no small task: design all-new interiors and infotainment software from the ground up. The results — interiors that are sporty, premium, and tech-centric — are a big step forward.

INSPIRED INTERIOR

The creative design teams looked for inspiration in places where minimalism is paired with a premium feel, such as in consumer electronics, and even jet engines and analog watches. Click or tap the hotspots to learn more.

The Blazer EV SS interior viewed from the back seat, showing the front seats, the center console, and the entire dashboard and display screens. Five clickable hotspots are scattered around the image.

While every detail was scrutinized, the big focus remained on integrating the tech with the interior. “The goal was to utilize and enhance the technology as much as we could,” Louro says. “We wanted to focus on the technology and making the interior flow nicely around that.”

Achieving that meant close collaboration with the team working on the software that powers both the center touch-screen and the Driver Information Center, where the gauge clusters appear.

A view out the front windshield of a Blazer EV from the point of view of the driver, showing the steering wheel and the gauge cluster behind it.

RECONFIGURABLE GAUGE CLUSTER
The appearance of the gauge cluster can be configured depending on the current driving mode and style.

That collaboration resulted in eliminating some physical buttons and placing their function within the available touch-screen, along with tilting the screen toward the driver, centering this eye-catching piece of tech in the SUVs.

How those buttons appear — and where — was just one of the challenges that Ki Hyun Ahn’s team had to solve. Ahn is the creative director of the user experience (UX) team and oversees the visual execution of infotainment systems.

Ahn says that as the displays in vehicles become one of the focal points of the interior, the software behind them has become that much more important. So Ahn’s team redesigned many of the system components, including icons and fonts, while keeping Chevrolet’s existing brand identity front of mind.

Both the UX software designers and interior designers know that experiences are made from details. When it comes to the Blazer EV and Equinox EV, no detail has been overlooked.

  • Seven major global automakers – General Motors, BMW Group, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz Group, Stellantis NV – will create an unprecedented new charging network joint venture that will significantly expand access to high-powered charging in North America
  • Targeting to install at least 30,000 high-powered charge points in urban and highway locations to ensure customers can charge whenever and wherever they need
  • With a focus on delivering an elevated customer experience, the network will provide reliability, high-powered charging capability, digital integration, appealing locations, various amenities while charging, and use renewable energy
  • Charging stations will be accessible to all EV customers, offering both Combined Charging System (CCS) and North American Charging Standard (NACS) connectors
  • First stations are scheduled to open in the summer of 2024

Seven of the world’s leading automakers – BMW Group, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz Group, Stellantis NV – are creating a joint venture to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles in North America, by making EV charging more convenient, accessible and reliable.

The joint venture will include the development of a new, high-powered charging network with at least 30,000 chargers to make zero-emission driving even more attractive for millions of customers.

With the generational investments in public charging being implemented on the Federal and State level, the joint venture will leverage public and private funds to accelerate the installation of high-powered charging for customers. The new charging stations will be accessible to all battery-powered electric vehicles from any automaker using Combined Charging System (CCS) or North American Charging Standard (NACS) and are expected to meet or exceed the spirit and requirements of the U.S. National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program.

The joint venture aims to become the leading network of reliable high-powered charging stations in North America.

The joint venture is expected to be established this year, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

The first stations are expected to open in the United States in the summer of 2024 and in Canada at a later stage. Each site will be equipped with multiple high-powered DC chargers, making long-distance journeys easier for customers. In line with the sustainability strategies of all seven automakers, the joint venture intends to power the charging network solely by renewable energy.

Elevated Customer Experience

The new high-powered charging network will elevate the entire EV experience and drive EV adoption.

The network will provide a seamless, vehicle integrated, best-in-class charging experience, based on renewable energy and supported by the quality, reliability, and resources of world-leading automakers.

Focused on customer comfort and charging ease, the stations will be in convenient locations offering canopies wherever possible and amenities such as restrooms, food service and retail operations either nearby or within the same complex. A select number of flagship stations will be equipped with additional amenities, delivering a premier experience designed to showcase the future of charging.

Initial plans call for the deployment of charging stations in metropolitan areas and along major highways, including connecting corridors and vacation routes, aiming to offer a charging station wherever people may choose to live, work and travel.

The functions and services of the network will allow for seamless integration with participating automakers’ in-vehicle and in-app experiences, including reservations, intelligent route planning and navigation, payment applications, transparent energy management and more. In addition, the network will leverage Plug & Charge technology to further enhance the customer experience.

An Open Network to Drive Electric Vehicle Growth

As more electric vehicles are introduced and the rate of consumer adoption increases, the demand for fast and reliable public charging also grows in parallel.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, as of July 2023, there are 32,000 publicly available DC fast chargers in the United States for use by 2.3 million electric vehicles, a ratio of 72 vehicles per charger. The NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) estimates that 182,000 DC fast chargers will be needed to support 30-42 million plug-in vehicles expected on the road by 2030.

With U.S. electric vehicle sales expected to exceed 50% of total U.S. sales by 2030, the expansion of reliable charging infrastructure will become even more critical to widespread electric vehicle adoption.

The creation of a best-in-class charging network will ensure that the EV infrastructure will support current and projected EV sales and will foster the adoption of electric vehicles.

The company recognizes that growing familiarity with new technology fosters trust and usage

Today General Motors launched “Hands Free, Eyes On,” a consumer education program to encourage consumer confidence in the use of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) as part of GM’s larger commitment to the safe deployment of these technologies , like Super Cruise . To avoid concern and confusion about the benefits of ADAS as they become more widely available, GM intends to give consumers more information so that they are informed, excited and confident in the technology.

“We know that to help achieve our vision of zero crashes, we must increase the adoption of ADAS and proactively highlight the benefits they offer,” said Scott Miller, GM vice president, Software Defined Vehicle and Operating System. “To increase usage, we must help drivers understand how currently available technologies, like Super Cruise, work and the responsibility drivers have when using ADAS features. We want customers to be assured of what we are doing to safely deploy these technologies.”

The “Hands Free, Eyes On” program is designed to explain the current state of ADAS — from active safety to hands-free features like Super Cruise — available to customers, all of which require the driver’s constant attention to the road, versus fully autonomous driving which does not require driver intervention. With a hands-free enabled vehicle like one equipped with Super Cruise, the driver is responsible for the vehicle’s operation. That means their eyes need to be on the road at all times, even when their hands are free.

GM is committed to the safe deployment of current and future advanced driver assistance systems and believes part of this is helping consumers to understand their capabilities and how to properly use them.

Core elements of safe deployment include:

1. A commitment to testing and validation

2. Integrating a comprehensive set of sensor technologies

3. Ensuring technologies have driver attention systems

4. Keeping our maps updated by monitoring roads and working with the public sector

5. Educating consumers and other stakeholders

GM will share free ADAS educational resources and best practices on GM.com and GM social channels. Content will be continuously updated.

America’s most affordable EV will return to Chevrolet’s growing lineup of all-electric vehicles

Today, GM Chair and CEO Mary Barra announced during the company’s quarterly earnings conference call that Chevrolet will introduce a next-generation Bolt, continuing to deliver what customers have come to expect: great affordability, range1 and technology.

“Our customers love today’s Bolt. It has been delivering record sales and some of the highest customer satisfaction and loyalty scores in the industry,” said Barra. “It’s also an important source of conquest sales for the company and for Chevrolet.”

“We will keep the momentum going by delivering a new Bolt…and we will execute it more quickly compared to an all-new program with significantly lower engineering expense and capital investment by updating the vehicle with Ultium and Ultifi technologies and by applying our ‘winning with simplicity’ discipline.”

Drawing on various Ultium and Ultifi technological advancements will help GM bring this popular model back to market on an accelerated timeline. Timing and specific details about the next-generation Bolt will be announced at a later date. The Bolt is expected to join Chevrolet’s growing lineup of all-electric vehicles, three of which are launching this year — Silverado EV, Blazer EV and Equinox EV.

From its market introduction in 2017, the Chevrolet Bolt changed the game as the first long-range, mass-produced EV available to customers at a truly affordable price. Sales of Bolt EV and Bolt EUV through the first half of 2023 have been the strongest to date. Eighty percent of Bolt owners are staying loyal to Chevy and nearly 70 percent of buyers who are trading in a vehicle for Bolt are trading in a non-GM product.

It picks up the technology-forward ethos of other recently introduced Chevrolet models, with clean, sweeping lines and a lower beltline that conveys a more spacious feel. The instrument panel is also lower than the previous model, which enhances outward visibility and the feeling of airiness.

Display screens are the centerpiece of the cabin, starting with the best-in-class standard 17.7-inch-diagonal color touchscreen. It’s more than two times larger than the largest available screen in the previous model and is the gateway to the Traverse’s connectivity. Wireless phone charging and Wi-Fi Hotspot are also available, and six USB ports are standard.

From the moment it was introduced in 2016, the iconic sixth generation Camaro established itself as the leaner, meaner generation; culminating with the ZL1 1LE track athlete. Throughout the generation, Camaro featured a wide variety of special editions that ranged from charismatic with the 50th Anniversary and Wild Cherry Design Package to edgy with the Shock and Steel and Redline Edition. As the Gen Six Camaro retires at the conclusion of the 2024 model year, Chevrolet is celebrating the car’s legacy of agility and style by offering a final special Collector’s Edition on the LT/RS, LT1, SS and ZL1 trims in North America.

The 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition resurfaces ties that date back to the development of the first-generation Camaro. Panther, the original code name for the program that became Camaro in the 1960s, provided inspiration for the Chevrolet Performance Design Studio’s efforts to cement the sixth generation of the car in history.

“We found it fitting for this Collector’s Edition Camaro to officially recognize the significance of the original code name and share it with Camaro enthusiasts,” said Rich Scheer, design director, Chevrolet Performance. “Of course, the name ‘Panther’ influenced the colors used, Panther Black Metallic for SS and Panther Matte Black for ZL1.”

The Collector’s Edition equips LT/RS, LT1 and SS trims with a new Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat paint, Satin Black accent stripes, 20-inch Satin Black or optional Polished Forged Wheels, the front splitter from the 1LE package and coupes receive the rear spoiler from the ZL1 package.

The 650 horsepower LT4-powered ZL1 Collector’s Edition, limited to 350 units, will feature a Panther Black Matte exterior color – the first matte paint offered on Camaro from the factory. The ZL1 will also feature the front splitter from the ZL1 1LE, and the rear wing from ZL1 1LE on coupes. The Black Metallic ZL1 stripe, red brake calipers and black lug nuts complete the exterior look. On the inside, all 350 Collector’s Edition ZL1 vehicles receive a serialized steering wheel badge representing where that vehicle was built in sequence.

Across all builds, Camaro Collector’s Editions receive unique front fender script badging that integrates a panther into the “R,” and a panther on the steering wheel badge. These Camaro builds also feature special floor mats with a laser-etched aluminum Collector’s Edition logo and unique black interior treatments.

Those who purchase a Camaro Collector’s Edition will receive a welcome kit which contains two posters commemorating the Camaro generations and the Collector’s Edition.

Camaro ZL1 Collector’s Edition owners will also receive a bespoke Canfield Sport 45mm watch from Shinola commemorating the Collector’s Edition, with an inscribed serial number that matches the number on their vehicle’s steering wheel badge. Thoughtfully crafted to carry the same ebonized presence as the 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition, this wearable keepsake hosts Camaro and panther motifs, from the panther engraved watch band to the Camaro logo housed on the watch face.

“Shinola is proud to share a legacy for quality, craftsmanship and performance with the Camaro nameplate, and we cherish the Detroit heritage that both Shinola and Chevrolet have,” Shinola CEO Awenate Cobbina said.

Additional 2024 updates

The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro will be available in coupe and convertible on LT, LT1, SS and ZL1 trims, with 1LE remaining an available option on SS and ZL1. Power for 2024 Camaro builds will come from the 3.6L V-6, 6.2L LT1 V-8 and the supercharged 6.2L LT4 V-8. New exterior colors Riptide Blue and Nitro Metallic Yellow can be selected across all trims.

Chevrolet dealers will begin accepting orders for the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro on June 15, with a starting MSRP of $32,495 for the LT coupe and $38,495 for the LT convertible.

Chance for enthusiasts to “get behind the wheel” of hybrid Cadillac V-Series.R race car and electrified AWD Corvette E-Ray

During this month’s Xbox Games Showcase, Turn 10 Studios unveiled gameplay showing the 2023 No. 01 Cadillac Racing V-Series.R race car and 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, featured on the cover of the new “Forza Motorsport,” releasing on October 10, 2023. “Forza Motorsport,” the latest title in the Forza series that began in 2005, will be available globally on Xbox Series X|S, Windows 10 and 11 PCs via the Microsoft Store and Steam, and Xbox Game Pass for PC and console.

“All of us at Turn 10 Studios are excited for players to experience the generational leap in fidelity, immersion and realism of ‘Forza Motorsport,’ the most technically advanced and authentic racing game we’ve ever made,” said Chris Esaki, Creative Director of Forza Motorsport at Turn 10 Studios. “We’re equally proud of our relationship with General Motors and can’t wait for fans to experience the stunning 2023 No.01 Cadillac Racing V-Series.R and 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray in-game when ‘Forza Motorsport’ launches on October 10.”

Rear 3/4 view of a 2023 Cadillac V-Series.R and a 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray driving side-by-side on a track in Forza Motorsport.

To secure this prominent placement on the new title, Cadillac and Chevrolet teams provided access to renderings and information about the Cadillac V-Series.R race car and Corvette E-Ray approximately a year prior to each car’s public debut. Once the vehicles were selected for the cover, still months prior to their respective reveals, Turn 10 Studios was invited to collect detailed reference photography of the cars, record real audio from development vehicles and secure vehicle performance data from engineers.

This work speaks to the level of detail Turn 10 Studios provides players in both the audio-visual spectacle of racing and the simulation of vehicle capabilities on the 20 photorealistic tracks featured in the game. This combination of strengths is attractive to Cadillac and Chevrolet because “Forza Motorsport” allows prospective and existing customers to experience vehicles and formulate opinions about them, potentially impacting purchase decisions and brand affinity.

Cadillac V-Series

The Cadillac V-Series.R — Cadillac’s third-generation prototype race car, continues Cadillac Racing’s heritage of winning on the racetrack, including victories at Sebring and Laguna Seca this year. It was co-developed by Cadillac Racing, Cadillac Design and Dallara, and incorporates distinctive Cadillac design elements, such as vertical lighting and floating blades.

“This is a big year for Cadillac Racing and Cadillac’s V-Series performance vehicles. We’re celebrating 20 years of V-Series and are fresh off a return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, one of the world’s greatest endurance races,” said Meagan Quinn, Cadillac V-Series marketing manager. “We’re excited for our fans to race and experience the Cadillac V-Series.R themselves, and for performance enthusiasts around the world to experience Cadillac V-Series.”

The Cadillac V-Series.R will only ever be driven by a select few of the world’s best racing drivers. Putting the race car in “Forza Motorsport” allows a truly global audience to get a taste of that experience on the very same tracks where the car competes for victories in real life.

Corvette E-Ray

The 2024 Corvette E-Ray, the quickest Corvette in history and the first Corvette to feature both electrification and all-wheel drive capability, will just be getting into the hands of U.S. customers when “Forza Motorsport” is released.

“We are excited to see the first customer impressions of Corvette E-Ray both in real life and through ‘Forza Motorsport’ being shared at the same time,” said Harlan Charles, product marketing manager, Chevrolet Corvette. “While Corvette will always be America’s sports car, ‘Forza Motorsport’ is one way we continue to elevate awareness of what Corvette offers on the world stage.”

From customer anecdotes to the Chevrolet vehicle development team’s first-hand experience, our product teams know “Forza Motorsport” is used as a tool for learning track layouts and vehicle capabilities.

A long history with the Forza franchise

“Forza Motorsport” showcases legendary racing and street-performance vehicles on the most renowned race circuits across the world. GM’s collaboration with Turn 10 Studios puts a spotlight on two of the company’s most capable track vehicles — the Cadillac V-Series.R and the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray.

Cadillac and Chevrolet vehicles have been present in the Forza franchise since the original “Forza Motorsport” made its debut in 2005, with representation in every Motorsport and Horizon title since inception.
