(Photo by Mike Stone for Chevrolet) The Chevrolet Suburban brought a piece of its movie fame back to its hometown in Texas, where the Suburban is assembled*. In 2019, the Suburban became the first vehicle to earn an Award of Excellence star from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for its iconic role in film and television. Today, Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President Rana Ghadban and General Motors Arlington Assembly Plant Executive Director Bill Kulhanek unveiled the star’s new permanent location in Arlington’s Entertainment District, between the ballpark and football stadium. Chevrolet chose the location to celebrate the Suburban’s footprint in the city and its enduring popularity with Texas customers. “The Suburban is truly a staple in both Texas and Hollywood, and the city of Arlington is honored to play a role in recognizing the Suburban today and every day at the GM Arlington Assembly Plant,” Williams said. “We’re also proud to proclaim today, June 21, ‘Suburban Day’ to recognize the Suburban’s continuing legacy in Texas, Hollywood and around the world.” The Award of Excellence star recognizes the Suburban’s robust acting career, appearing in more than 1,750 film and TV series. The Suburban is Hollywood’s longest working actor and an icon on the Hollywood scene. The Suburban is a one-of-a-kind character actor with its own persona. Its career in Hollywood began in 1952, when it first appeared on the silver screen. “There is no other character actor like the Chevy Suburban. It can fit into any type of role with ease. When it arrives in a movie or TV series, it can instantly bring a feeling of significance, suspense or knowing the day is about to be saved,” said Ghadban. “This marks the first Award of Excellence star outside of California. We are excited to permanently place the Suburban’s Award of Excellence star in its home state of Texas.” Arlington Assembly builds 12 millionth vehicle, a Suburban The Arlington Assembly Plant has produced over 12 million vehicles since production began. Today, it produces the segment-leading Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban for 33 countries around the world. The 5,677 employees who assemble these vehicles make the vehicle’s Hollywood career possible. “We are so proud to build the Chevrolet Suburban in Texas, where it is beloved by many, both on and off the screen,” Kulhanek said. “The capability, cargo space and technology make the Suburban a customer favorite that has stood the test of time.” Chevrolet Suburban fast facts on its history on and off the screen: Suburban has appeared in at least one television series every year since 1956, and at least one film every year since 1960. Suburban has also appeared in over 30 award-nominated films. Suburban is the first vehicle ever awarded an Award of Excellence star by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which was presented on Dec. 5, 2019. Suburban was first introduced in 1935 and is the longest-running nameplate in automotive history, and continues to be an American icon both on the road and on the big screen. Suburban started its production in Arlington in 1999. Approximately 1,200 vehicles are produced daily at Arlington Assembly. As of last year, there are nearly 200,000 Suburbans on the road in Texas and a Suburban is sold approximately every 2 hours in Texas. Additionally, Texas Chevrolet dealers accounted for four of the top 10 Chevrolet Suburban dealers in the U.S. in 2020. In 2020, Texans bought more Suburbans than 22 other states, combined. As the Chevrolet Suburban continues its Hollywood legacy, fans can celebrate its heritage when visiting Arlington’s Entertainment District. The space is free and open to the public. Chevrolet is Busting Myths About Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicles aren't a novelty anymore, but they are still new enough that people have some wrong ideas about EVs of all makes and models, including Chevy's Bolt EV. Chevrolet's New Roads magazine tackled some of these myths in an online article. EV Myth Busting All over America, more people are learning just how easy electric vehicles are to use and integrate into their daily lives. For everything from around-town errands to road trips, EVs are proving themselves capable and cost-effective. In early 2021, Chevrolet introduced the updated 2022 Bolt EV and the larger 2022 Bolt EUV. General Motors has also announced an investment of $27 billion in EV and AV products through 2025, along with the launch of 30 new EVs globally by the end of 2025. With all of this change happening so fast, myths and misinformation about EV technology persist. Let’s collect some facts to set the record straight. Myth: There's nowhere to charge. Fact: "You can easily charge at home. When you're not home there are 90,000 compatible public charging outlets in the U.S. and Canada, and GM is working with EVgo, the largest public fast-charging network in the nation, to install even more public chargers across America over the next five years." Myth: Charging an EV takes too long. Fact: "On a Level 2, 240-volt charger, your Bolt EUV can grab up to 25 miles of range per hour while you sleep, binge your favorite show, or play with your kids." Myth: EVs don't offer enough range. Fact: "The vast majority of daily trips can easily be handled by an electric vehicle like the 2021 or 2022 Bolt EV, which have an EPA estimated range of 259 miles on a full charge." Myth: EVs can't be used for road trips. Fact: "There are any number of websites that can help new owners of electric vehicles plan their trip, and the myChevrolet mobile app has an Energy Assist feature that helps drivers with route planning." Myth: EVs don't work well in cold weather. Fact: "...whether cars are powered by gasoline or electricity, all vehicles are less efficient in the cold. The critical caveat is that much of the extra energy an EV needs in winter is used to heat the cabin. If you preheat the cabin before leaving, while the vehicle is still plugged into the charger, you can help extend the vehicles range for that trip."

During the 2020 series, Chevrolet won the GT Manufacturers title – its 13th since 2001. Taylor, Garcia and the No. 3 Corvette C8.R crew won the GTLM Drivers and Team championships. Track and Street Come Closer Together in the All-New Chevrolet NASCAR Next Gen Camaro ZL1 Race Car

OEMs and NASCAR collaborate to bring production elements to race cars Chevrolet and other major automotive brands competing in the NASCAR Cup Series revealed their Next Gen models today. Chevrolet’s new look on the racetrack will more closely connect to its cars in the showroom when Chevy campaigns its Next Gen Camaro ZL1 race car, starting next season in the NASCAR Cup Series. The new look and features are a result of a collaborative effort by Chevrolet, the series and other original equipment manufacturers for race cars competing at the Cup level to look and perform more like their production counterparts. The Next Gen Camaro ZL1 race car’s new lower greenhouse, shortened deck lid and widened track width contribute to a coupe-like appearance. A fully symmetrical body design makes the race car look even more like the production Camaro. “Chevrolet engineers and designers worked alongside our race teams to develop this race car while staying true to the styling essence of the Camaro ZL1,” said Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance and Motorsports. “This cooperation will benefit Chevrolet both on the track and the street.” Both the Next Gen Camaro ZL1 race car and production Camaro ZL1 offer hood air extractors that enhance track performance. “The Next Gen Camaro has a much stronger link to the production Camaro ZL1 in terms of styling integration, improved proportions and relevant technologies,” said Eric Warren, Chevrolet director of NASCAR Programs. “From an engineering standpoint, this is a seismic shift. It’s a completely new car that brings with it a lot of opportunity from a technical standpoint.” Other changes to the 2022 Next Gen race car include: Upgraded specs to match modern passenger vehicle technology, including independent rear suspension – like production Camaros – and rack and pinion steering. An increase in wheel size from 15 to 18 inches. The larger diameter wheels allow for larger brakes for improved track performance. Wheels will be made from forged aluminum, like the wheels on the production Camaro ZL1. A new transaxle that combines the transmission and rear gears into one package. The bottom of the car will be sealed with an underwing and rear diffuser for enhanced aerodynamics. A redesigned chassis features new front and rear bumpers with an energy-management system. Both the front and rear clips bolt on to the center section for easier serviceability and damage repair. Chevrolet initially introduced the Camaro ZL1 race car to NASCAR Cup competition in 2018. It was replaced by the Camaro ZL1 1LE race car in 2020, which Chase Elliott drove to a Driver’s Championship in the car’s first season. Chevrolet has campaigned 14 different nameplates in the Cup Series, dating back to 1955, and with 798 victories is the winningest brand in NASCAR Cup Series history. Chevy’s first win was by Fonty Flock at Columbia Speedway in South Carolina in 1955, the same year Chevrolet introduced its famed small-block V-8. Since then, Chevrolet has won 39 Manufacturer Championships, including 13 in a row from 2003-2015, and 32 Driver Championships to lead all manufacturers. The Next Gen Camaro ZL1 race car will make its points-paying debut at next season’s Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Feb. 20, 2022. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the Next Gen Camaro ZL1 race car Saturday, May 8, at 8 p.m. ET by joining “ Chevy MyWay: Meet the All-New NASCAR Next Gen Camaro,” a free broadcast open to all.

Chevrolet Makes TikTok Debut with Music Video Featuring Silverado and Artist Breland

Chevrolet today released a rebooted music video of the hit song, “My Truck,” written and performed by the platinum-selling artist BRELAND. Marking the vehicle brand’s TikTok debut, “My Truck” features revamped song lyrics highlighting the Chevy Trucks lineup and dynamic visuals that feature Silverado in a starring role. The “My Truck” music video is viewable now on Chevrolet’s new TikTok profile, which just launched this February. Chevrolet is one of only a few automotive brands with a channel on TikTok and plans to reach new audiences through the platform. “Chevy is a brand that loves celebrating trucks and the people who own them,” said Steven Majoros, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “BRELAND’s song, ‘My Truck’ is so exciting because it is a great representation of why truck customers love their vehicles – they offer a source of adventure, fun and capability. The reboot of ‘My Truck’ will definitely be a new anthem for Chevy Truck customers.” While filming the music video, Chevrolet leveraged three distinct locations across Nashville, Tennessee. These backdrops not only highlight the beauty of the city, but also represent the diversity of truck customers. Within the video, Chevrolet pairs each location with unique Chevrolet Silverado trims, including the Silverado LT Trail Boss, Silverado LT Trail Boss Midnight Edition and Silverado Custom, showcasing the variety of models available for all types of owners. “Chevy was the perfect collaborator to breathe new life into ‘My Truck’ because they truly understand what makes truck culture so special,” said BRELAND. “They appreciate that truck enthusiasts are getting younger and more diverse, and that insight was the inspiration for the original version of the song. Coming to the table with that shared perspective made the collaborative process of rewriting ‘My Truck’ so much fun.” To find more information about the “My Truck” video collaboration and behind-the-scenes footage, watch this video.

Chevrolet Teams Up with Disney to Debut the 2022 Bolt EUV

Chevrolet revealed the new, all-electric 2022 Bolt EUV and redesigned Bolt EV in a special, 90-second commercial titled Magic is Electric created in collaboration with Disney. Chevy also released Behind the Magic, a “making-of” video that uses behind-the-scenes footage to explain the features of the Bolt EUV in a fun and entertaining way. “The power of two iconic brands like Disney and Chevy coming together to reveal the Bolt EUV inspires customers to imagine an all-electric future,” said Steve Majoros, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “We want to engage and inform consumers about all the benefits of owning an EV and do it in an entertaining way. These vehicles are fun to drive, loaded with technology and are affordable, proving EVs are for everyone.” Both Magic is Electric and Behind the Magic were shot in part on location at Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom Park and EPCOT in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The commercial will make its network debut during ABC’s American Idol, which premieres its new season Sunday, Feb. 14 from 8-10 p.m. EST, and Bolt EUV will be integrated into SportsCenter’ s “Magical Moment” segments on Feb. 15-19 on ESPN. The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV prepares to go into hyperspace alongside a Star Wars X-Wing Fighter in Magic is Electric, a commercial Chevy created in collaboration with Disney to reveal the new, all-electric vehicle. The 2022 Bolt EUV will be available this summer. “Our Alliances creative team has produced amazing content that fuses the anticipation and magic of a visit to Walt Disney World Resort with the excitement of driving the new Bolt EUV,” said Tiffany Rende, senior vice president of Marketing Partnerships and Alliances at The Walt Disney Company. “The result is an unforgettable campaign, amplified across Disney’s ecosystem, that we know will resonate with consumers.” To bring the full story to life, Chevy and Disney created several pieces of content. In the 90-second commercial, a series of friends and families bring the magic of electric to life while traveling to Walt Disney World Resort with a cast of iconic characters, including Tinker Bell, Haunted Mansion’s Hitchhiking Ghosts, a Star Wars X-Wing Fighter, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and more. These beloved Disney icons help demonstrate Bolt EUV’s performance, larger size and tech features like Super Cruise 1 and HD rear camera mirror. The campaign creative will be featured on Chevrolet’s social media platforms and across other digital broadcast properties, including www.chevrolet.com. Chevy also collaborated with Nick Cho, aka @YourKoreanDad on TikTok, to walk viewers through a unique, behind-the-scenes look at Chevy and Disney’s content collaboration on the commercial. Behind the Magic also serves to provide in-depth vehicle feature information for the Bolt EUV and Bolt EV and includes reactions from current Bolt EV owners, who talk about how switching to electric has made their lives better. Behind the Magic can be watched at www.chevy.com/ev. As part of its marketing plan for Bolt EUV and Bolt EV, Chevy will amplify the reveal with the commercial spot and various shorter versions airing across Disney-owned broadcast properties, on charging station digital billboards, and in other targeted placements across a wide variety of owned and paid social channels. The reveal of the Bolt EUV and Bolt EV is the latest collaboration between Chevrolet and Disney. In the 1940s, General Motors commissioned Walt Disney and his studio to create an animated training film. In 1979, the company signed an agreement with Disney to become the first attraction sponsor at EPCOT prior to EPCOT’s grand opening in 1982. The GM pavilion – World of Motion presented by General Motors – was an opening day attraction, which ran from 1982 until Jan. 2,1996. Test Track presented by General Motors opened May 17, 1999 and operated until April 12, 2012. Today, guests can experience the creative energy between these two brands firsthand at EPCOT through Test Track presented by Chevrolet, a popular and thrilling attraction that was imagined by the creative teams of Walt Disney Imagineering in collaboration with Chevrolet Design. Test Track presented by Chevrolet opened Dec. 6, 2012. The 2022 Bolt EUV expands Chevy’s EV lineup beyond the Bolt EV, which has been on sale since 2016. Larger and sportier, the Bolt EUV is the first Chevrolet equipped with Super Cruise 1 technology, the industry’s first true hands-free driver assistance system for compatible roads. The Bolt EV has been redesigned for 2022. Both vehicles will be available this summer. To watch the reveal videos, please visit www.chevy.com/ev. Even while using Super Cruise driver assistance feature for compatible roads, always pay attention while driving and do not use a hand-held device. Requires property equipped vehicle, active Super Cruise subscription, working electrical system, cell reception, and GPS signal.
