The Chevrolet Trax made its United States debut in 2015 as a comfortable and affordable subcompact SUV. Now that it's 2018, what does the new model have to offer? Here are just some of the reasons that you'll want to try out the new 2018 Chevrolet Trax. Exterior You can choose from three different trims with the Chevrolet Trax: the LS, LT, or Premier. The LT trim has features like LED daytime running lights, heated mirrors, remote vehicle start, and rails for roof-mounted luggage racks. New this year is the Redline Edition Package that you can purchase with the LT trim. This gives you things like black 18-inch wheels with red detailing and seats that are covered in black leatherette and cloth. Three new colors were also added this year, giving you the additional choices of Sandy Ridge Metallic, Cajun Red Tintcoat, and Storm Blue Metallic. If you opt for the highest trim, Premier, you will have a sunroof that is now a standard feature. more Performance The Trax is an ideal city car. It is agile with quick steering, making it easy to park and giving it an impressive turning radius. The brakes are some of the strongest you will find, which is important in heavy city traffic for those quick stops. The 2018 model made no changes under the hood since last year. Only one engine is offered, the turbocharged 1.4-liter inline-four with 138 horsepower. It has a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, though all-wheel drive is available. The Chevrolet Trax gets about 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Interior With high seating, ample headroom, and large windows, the Chevrolet Trax feels spacious and roomy. It comes standard with an easy-to-use 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard with any Chevrolet Trax model, as is in-car Wi-Fi. Upgrade to the Premier trim to access features like heated seats and the before-mentioned sunroof. With the exception of the Redline Edition package for the LT trim, there have been no changes to the cabin since last year's model. If you are in need of extra cargo room in the back, the seats fold down easily to offer more room. The maximum cargo space you can plan on is 48.4 cubic feet. Safety You can drive with confidence when you drive the Chevrolet Trax, and it received a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to prove it. There are many safety features available with the Trax, such as blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Last year's Driver's Confidence II package on the Trax's premier trims now comes standard and includes both lane-departure and forward-collision warnings. There are a lot of reasons to get behind the wheel of the new 2018 Chevrolet Malibu. It has received several awards for its safety as well as its fuel efficiency. It's had a few changes that we're certain will make driving more fun than ever before. Power and Performance Under the hood of the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu is plenty of power. It comes standard with a 1.5-liter turbocharger DOHC four-cylinder direct injection engine. This engine gives you 163 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid trim level offers the same luxury interiors as the LT trim level, but it comes with its own instrument cluster designed specifically for the hybrid. Redesigned from the ground up for Chevrolet's truck centennial, the 2019 Silverado is getting an update. The whole family of Silverados made their introduction at Detroit's North American International Auto Show, where GM announced a total of eight Silverado models loaded with cool new goodies. There's a new truck in this generation for everyone. Let's go ahead and take a closer look at four of the most surprising changes Chevy made to the 2019 Silverado. Return of the Diesel Engine Chevy's half-ton truck is getting six different engine and transmission combinations, including a 3.0-liter inline V6 Duramax diesel paired up with a mighty 10-speed automatic transmission. There will also be two eight-cylinder options: a 5.3-liter engine and a 6.2-liter engine. The new Silverado is gaining a Dynamic Fuel Management system that can "turn off" half of the engine's cylinders when working under light loads to improve overall fuel economy. Conservative estimates suggest this system can increase fuel savings up to 12 percent without sacrificing engine size and performance. Lighter Chassis and Frame The new Chevy Silverado has lost some serious weight — 450 pounds to be exact. The slim down came as a result of a whole bunch of aluminum on everything that swings, like the hood, doors, and tailgate. In the race to haul more stuff but still save on gas, GM has stepped up the Silverado to match consumer's demands. The drop in poundage is expected to boost fuel economy and reduce wear and tear on panel hinges. The new chassis is made of high-strength steel that still weighs 88-pounds less than previous truck frames. more A New Trim — The LT Trailboss The all-new for 2019 LT Trailboss trim reveals an extra 2 inches of suspension lift. Plus, you can upgrade to the Z71 Off-Road Package that's jammed full of sports features like Rancho shocks that deliver a smooth ride over all types of terrain. Unlike aftermarket suspensions, this one is thoroughly tested and warrantied by GM. The LT Trailboss is a more ruggedly capable version of the Chevy ZR2 that inspired it, with 18-inch Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires and Eaton heavy-duty automatic locking rear differential. Made to Work The 2019 Silverado features a bed floor made from high-strength steel that is 7 inches wider than last year's model. It offers a total of 21 cargo tie-downs and the industry-first power tailgate that operates at the touch of a button on a key fob or in the cabin. Extra attention went into the vast collection of storage bins packed into the new Silverado. Two 10-liter bins are integrated into the second-row seatbacks for stashing electronics or snacks, and there's one large 24-liter storage tray under the second-row seats that's long enough for a fishing pole, yet deep enough to hold groceries. Pricing and what sort of upgrades we can expect to the cabin and safety technology, payload and towing capacities, and the anticipated fuel economy estimates are all anxiously pending Chevy's announcement. Chevrolet is a reliable manufacturer that produces many great small and subcompact vehicles. We're particularly impressed by the 2018 Cruze and 2018 Sonic, but choosing between the two can present a challenge. We've broken down some features of each car to help you determine which is right for you. Design The 2018 Cruze is available as both a sedan and a hatchback, depending on your stylistic preferences. We like the hatchback design, thanks to its ease of access when it comes to loading and unloading your gear. However, both versions are equally sporty, offer plenty of storage space, and come in a variety of eye-catching paint jobs. You're sure to appreciate the projector-beam headlamps, available LED daytime running lamps, and heated seats. The 2018 Sonic also makes a great first impression. Like the Cruze, it comes in both sedan and hatchback versions and features flourishes like LED daytime running lamps. Rear 60/40 folding seats also provide a surprising amount of cargo space for a compact car. What we really like about the 2018 Sonic is its customizability. You can outfit your Sonic in Orange Burst Metallic paint and add in any number of fun accessories, making this car a great way to express your own style. Power and Performance You might not expect a huge engine in a compact car, but the 2018 Cruze has more than enough power to do the job. The standard option is a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine capable of generating 153 horsepower and 177 pounds per foot of torque. An available 1.6-liter diesel engine is also turbocharged, offering up to 137 horsepower and 240 pounds per foot of torque. The Sonic is roughly comparable to the performance of the Cruze, with a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine that generates up to 138 horsepower. You can also upgrade to an ECOTEC 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine, although this does not offer any increase in horsepower. Both engines provide you with excellent gas mileage, but neither is quite as efficient as the 2018 Cruze. If you value fuel efficiency, the Cruze offers slightly better value. more Price Of course, you can't make an intelligent purchasing decision without taking cost into consideration. The 2018 Cruze has a modest MSRP of $16,975. This is a great price for an entry-level car packed with as many features as the Cruze, but you can also select from several upgrades. A fully-outfitted Premier Cruze comes at a price of $24,895, while opting for the diesel version of the Cruze will run you about $26,795. The 2018 Sonic might be an even better bargain for budget-conscious consumers. This robust little compact has an MSRP of $15,295. The Premier version, representing the highest level of trim, tops out at $22,195. This is a significant savings over the price of the 2018 Cruze, but whether it's enough to be the deciding factor is likely to vary from driver to driver. As you can see, there are plenty of reasons to prefer either the 2018 Cruze or the 2018 Sonic. There's no wrong answer when you're choosing between two sporty, reliable compact cars. This is especially important for drivers that regularly have passengers -- there's more than enough space to spread out in the back seat and even tall passengers should have a comfortable amount of headspace and leg room. more Active Safety Active safety features are some of the most popular new car technologies and the Impala offers a full range. Available features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and rear parking sensors. Rearview cameras are standard on all models, while the more advanced features are available are either through packages or the more advanced trim levels. Drive There are two available engines for the 2018 Impala: the standard 2.5L 4-cylinder or the optional 3.6L V6. The 4-cylinder gets better fuel ratings, with an estimated 22 miles-per-gallon in the city and 30 on the highway. The 3.6L gets a reduced 18 miles-per-gallon in the city and 28 on the highway but gets noticeably more power, a fair trade-off for drivers that prioritize power over fuel economy. Regardless of which engine you choose, the weight of the Impala helps create a smooth ride with clean acceleration and responsive handling. Finely tuned brakes help compensate for the extra braking time that often plagues larger vehicles. These are just a few reasons while you'll love the 2018 Chevy Impala. The base model comes standard with a rear-vision backup camera and a 7-inch color infotainment touchscreen with Chevrolet MyLink radio, a generous 3-month trial of GM's OnStar system, and 4G LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity. Higher tiers also include add-on features like power windows and remote keyless entry. In addition, the base model has full smartphone integration via either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, which allows drivers to access their favorite apps, including navigation and entertainment options, via voice control. The top tier model also has cruise control, wheel-mounted controls, a leather steering wheel, and heated front seats. more Fuel Economy Thanks to the 2018 Spark's diminutive size and accompanying smaller 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, it gets excellent gas mileage. The manual transmission is EPA-rated at 29 miles in the city, 37 on the highway, while the automatic continuously variable transmission models are bumped up to 30 and 39 miles per gallon in the city and highway, respectively. This year’s Detroit Auto Show saw a huge array of debuts from automakers everywhere, but it was all about the trucks this year. Several big brands revealed new models and concepts, but the 2019 Chevy Silverado made one the boldest statements of the show. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was unveiled in Detroit’s Eastern Market at the show and its fresh new design drew huge crowds. The 2019 Silverado will offer eight distinct trim levels, so each trim will attract a different type of customer and use. Here a few highlights of the 2019 Silverado. Bulkier, but Lighter The 2019 Silverado is much lighter than its predecessor- by about 450lbs! In order to shed the weight, Chevrolet didn’t take the all-aluminum route, but rather strategically mixed different materials. A variety of methods was used to make the lighter truck, including roll forming, hydroforming, and tailor-rolled blanking. The doors, hood and tailgate are aluminum while panels such as fenders, roof, and bed are conventional steel. The underlying safety cage is a blend of seven grades of steel alloys. Design & Power that Screams Muscle The 2019 Silverado brought a brand new look to Detroit. There is less straight-edge lines than its predecessors and instead more free-flowing forms give it a more muscular and bold look. The 2019 Silverado is definitely making a bigger statement than its competition, but it’s also actually bigger in size, too. The driver sits about an inch higher than the 2018 Silverado, and the wheelbase on the Crew Cab is nearly 4 inches longer. Six engine & transmission combinations will also be available. Of those six includes a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, and a Duramax 3.0-liter inline 6 diesel paired with a 10-speed transmission. more Advanced Features The latest version of GM’s 4G LTE wireless capability will be available across all trim levels for the 2019 Silverado. The exciting new GM Marketplace App will also be available. The advanced app allows drivers to purchase items such as coffee and make restaurant reservations while on the road using the dashboard touchscreen.
