Chevrolet unveiled the Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race truck concept at the legendary Mint 400 off-road race, where the truck will also compete in the notorious event as part of the Hall Racing team’s lineup. The Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept joins the team’s Silverado ZR2 and Colorado ZR2 race trucks, and Chad Hall will drive the all-electric off-road race truck in the Open Production EV class.

“There is no better proving ground to test the limits of our vehicles than competitive racing,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “The Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept, which uses 98% GM production parts, showcases some of the best of Chevrolet to produce a beyond-capable pickup to tackle a challenging race of the Mint 400’s magnitude.”

Though a concept, the Silverado EV ZR2 race truck follows the same winning ZR2 formula as the Colorado ZR2 and Silverado ZR2:

  • Lifted, front and rear suspension with specific off-road tuning that continues to deliver on the pavement
  • Multimatic damper technology
  • Locking differentials
  • Underbody skid protection

The high-performance, off-road Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept came to life quickly, after only five months of development, and features roughly 98% GM production parts. The cornerstone of the race truck’s off-road chops is prototype Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve continuously adaptive dampers. These dampers provide off-road performance for the more than 13 inches of front and rear wheel travel.

Combined with the Silverado EV ZR2 race truck’s 37-inch BF Goodrich KM3 Mud-Terrain tires, and a tri-motor electric propulsion system that creates 1,100 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque, the race truck concept more than earns the ZR2 badge.

No stranger to the desert and off-road racing, Chevrolet engineers will embed themselves with the Chad Hall Racing team to analyze the race truck’s performance, durability and capability. Each learning will be applied to production vehicles, performance parts and accessories from Chevrolet. Today, more than 44 off-road performance parts and accessories are available for customers to buy for production trucks.

“Working with the Chevy engineers is always a good day at the office,” said Chad Hall, primary driver and owner of Hall Racing race team lead. “What we learn from racing is applied to vehicles consumers can buy. An off-road race like The Mint 400 is equivalent to a lifetime of vehicle wear and tear.”

Hall Racing first started competing in a stock production class in a Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 in 2017. Since then, the team has finished 53 of 54 races entered.

The Silverado ZR2 race truck concept’s reveal comes as Chevy prepares to launch this summer the 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss, its first off-road oriented EV variant. Trail Boss is a more off-road capable Silverado EV with a factory-installed lift, 18-inch wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires and red tow hooks. New Terrain Mode gives the truck increased maneuverability in tight spaces.

More information on Silverado EV Trail Boss will be available soon.

General Motors, including Chevrolet, has earned multiple model-level awards in the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study.

The Corvette ZR1 and the team behind it continue to put the performance car world on notice. With four different General Motors drivers behind the wheel, the Corvette ZR1 has set not one, but five new production car lap records during a U.S. track tour.

Below are the five tracks and the Corvette ZR1’s lap times, each with a GM driver at the wheel:

  • Watkins Glen Long Course: 1:52.7. Driver: Bill Wise, Lead Performance Engineer, Chassis Controls.
  • Road America: 2:08.6. Driver: Brian Wallace, Lead Vehicle Dynamics Engineer.
  • Road Atlanta: 1:22.8. Driver: Chris Barber, Lead Development Engineer.
  • Virginia International Raceway Full Course: 1:47.7. Driver: Aaron Link, Global Vehicle Performance Manager.
  • Virginia International Raceway Grand Course: 2:32.3. Driver: Aaron Link.

The drivers set out on this track tour with a pre-production Corvette ZR1 equipped with the optional ZTK Performance Package. The ZTK Package notably adds an aggressive, high-downforce rear wing, front dive planes, and a tall hood Gurney lip – all constructed from woven carbon fiber. Underneath, underbody strakes replace the standard front underwing stall Gurney to substantially increase front downforce. The suspension tuning included in the ZTK package incorporates stiffer springs and adds Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R ZP tires.

With four different individuals behind the wheel of the Corvette ZR1, each with a different driving style, these lap times showcase the engineering prowess of the car. Future customers don’t need to be professional drivers to extract the ultimate performance of the 1,064-horsepower Corvette ZR1.

The drivers, with a combined 65 years of GM Level 6 driving experience, each brought racing and high-performance driving experience when joining General Motors. Individually, each driver quickly reached the top of GM’s driver certification program, and all achieved Nürburgring Industry Pool certification. This group was entrusted with pushing the Corvette ZR1 to its absolute limits on the highest speed, highest commitment tracks in the U.S.

“Corvette ZR1 continues to showcase how this nameplate elevates at every corner,” Corvette executive chief engineer Tony Roma said. “From design, engineering, development, validation, to driving and setting incredible lap records like these – we do it all in house.”

Corvette ZR1 with the ZTK Package boasts a top speed of 233 mph on the racetrack0-60 mph time of 2.3 seconds, and quarter-mile time of 9.6 seconds. With these figures, no current production car under $1 million rivals Corvette ZR1.

MSRPs for the Corvette ZR1 start at $174,995 (including $1,695 DFC) for the 1LZ coupe and $184,995 (including DFC) for the 1LZ hardtop convertible. Production is scheduled to begin at General Motors’ Bowling Green Assembly plant in Kentucky in the second quarter of 2025, and Chevrolet will begin accepting orders for the 2025 Corvette ZR1 later this month.

Chevy Blazer EV

Chevrolet introduced its Blazer EV.R NASCAR prototype ahead of this year’s running of the DAYTONA 500. The Blazer EV.R is an example of Chevrolet continuing to test, learn, and explore new technologies that could be applied to both race programs and production cars.

“While we will continue to race our proven and winning V8 technology in NASCAR for years to come, we continually look for ways to improve the combination of power, durability, and efficiency to transfer learnings from the racetrack to the showroom, especially as we bolster Chevy’s consumer EV lineup,” said Eric Warren, executive director, global motorsports competition for General Motors.

The prototype delivers over 1,300 horsepower from three six-phase electric motors that instantly rev up to 15,000 rpm, powered by a 78-kWh liquid-cooled battery.

Exploring new technologies allows Chevrolet to apply learnings for vehicles in the showroom. Customer choice is at the center of Chevrolet’s success in the marketplace, offering one of the broadest lineups of vehicles in the industry, from first cars to supercars and everything in between. It also offers diesel, gasoline, and EV powered vehicles for its customers.

“Motorsports is a test bed for innovation, and a training ground for our engineers — one that allows Chevrolet to try out new technologies in a fast-paced environment against the best competition,” Warren added.

Built on NASCAR’s Next Gen chassis and suspension componentry, the Blazer EV.R puts its power to the pavement via a programable all-wheel drive system and Goodyear Racing Eagle tires. Chevrolet worked closely with NASCAR and other manufacturers on the parameters and technical elements of the prototype.

GM Design worked together with motorsports engineers to give the Blazer EV.R styling features inspired by the Blazer EV SS production vehicle.

“This program was a great opportunity with NASCAR to design a new crossover utility vehicle body and bring forward design elements from our Blazer EV SS,” said Phil Zak, executive director, Chevrolet Global Design. “The EV.R prototype offers lower and wider proportions and was designed with aerodynamics and performance in mind.”

GM engineers were able to take the prototype from concept to reality, then reliably turn laps at race pace during testing last month at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina.

“NASCAR and its manufacturer partners are passionate about emerging technologies, and working to remain on the forefront of innovation,” said Brandon Thomas, NASCAR vice president, vehicle design. “With the Blazer EV.R NASCAR prototype, Chevrolet and its engineers meshed new technologies with the NASCAR Next Gen platform – and the result is a powerful, exciting vehicle that we believe fans will love when they see it at Daytona International Speedway.”

Driving the prototype during testing was Justin Allgaier, Team Chevy driver, 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion.

“There are so many things you don’t think about until you’re in the car actually testing it,” said Allgaier. “I’m used to knowing my speed through gearing and listening to engine revs, so I had to totally change how I judge corner entry speed. With this platform we’re learning how to strategically adjust regenerative braking, which has a big impact on braking sections and cornering balance.”

Chevrolet will also pace the 67th DAYTONA 500 on Sunday, February 16, 2025 with the Blazer EV SS — a 615 horsepower vehicle that can go 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds1 with Wide Open Watts, making it the quickest SS model Chevrolet has ever produced. As previously announced, the honorary pace car driver is actor Alan Ritchson.

In addition, the Corvette Stingray will be the pace car for the Xfinity Series United Rentals 300 on Saturday, February 15, while the Chevrolet Silverado RST will be the pace vehicle for the Craftsman Truck Series Fresh From Florida 250 on Friday, February 14th.

On Saturday, January 25th, the first retail production 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, VIN 001, sold at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction for $3.7 million. 100 percent of the hammer price of this Barrett-Jackson charity auction benefits the American Red Cross. Chevrolet selected the Red Cross to benefit disaster relief efforts in areas impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton, as well as general relief to help people affected by disasters big and small, including wildfires, storms and countless other crises.

This ties the record donation for a charity vehicle at Barrett-Jackson set in 2022 by the first retail 2023 Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition.

“The 1064 hp Corvette ZR1 is the pinnacle of American engineering,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Global Chevrolet. “We at Chevrolet are proud to work with Barrett-Jackson and the Red Cross so that the historic sale of this American icon benefits people whose lives were impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton, countless disasters across the country.”

Corvette Chief Engineer Josh Holder introduced the quickest, fastest and most powerful Corvette ever before an engaged audience of bidders in the room and around the world, alongside representatives from the Red Cross. Minutes later, the winning bid was placed by Rick Hendrick, founder and CEO of Hendrick Companies.

General Motors and Chevrolet maintain a long-standing relationship with the Red Cross and regularly support the organization’s disaster relief efforts.

“The Red Cross is working around the clock to provide help and hope to people across the country impacted by disasters big and small, including wildfires, floods and other crises,” said Cliff Holtz, president and CEO of the American Red Cross. “We cannot thank Chevrolet enough for their tremendous generosity as we work together to offer critical relief and comfort to families and communities in dire need.”

Thanks to more than 15 years working with Barrett-Jackson and their charity auction program, Chevrolet has generated millions of dollars in donations for many great causes. This auction brings the total amount of money Chevrolet has raised at Barrett-Jackson charity auctions through the sale of eighth generation Corvettes to $12.9 million.

“General Motors has shared some of our biggest and most memorable moments when we have raised money together for charity on the Barrett-Jackson auction block,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Over the years, GM has entrusted Barrett-Jackson to sell some of their most coveted first-production vehicles for charity, and we’re honored to have continued that tradition in Scottsdale with the sale of the first retail production 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (Lot #3005). We made history by selling this rare collector vehicle for $3.7 million, while also helping the Red Cross fulfill its mission to feed and provide emotional support to victims of disasters. Between the recent hurricane on the East Coast and fires in California, the money is certainly needed.”

Winter Roads

Winter driving in the Pacific Northwest can be as challenging as it is beautiful. From rain-soaked streets to icy mountain passes, the region’s unpredictable weather requires drivers to be prepared for anything. At Burien Chevrolet, we care about your safety, which is why we’re sharing these essential winter driving tips to help you navigate the season confidently.

Know the Challenges of Pacific Northwest Weather

Winter in the Pacific Northwest brings a mix of conditions:

  • Heavy Rain: Persistent rain can lead to reduced visibility and slippery roads.
  • Snow and Ice: Mountain passes and higher elevations often experience snow and icy patches.
  • Fog: Dense fog is common and can reduce visibility to just a few feet.
  • Windstorms: High winds can cause debris on roads and make driving hazardous.

Precautions to Take for Safe Driving

  1. Check Your Tires: Ensure your tires have adequate tread depth and are properly inflated. Consider winter tires if you’ll be driving in snowy or icy areas frequently.
  2. Slow Down and Leave Space: Wet or icy roads increase stopping distances. Reduce your speed and maintain a safe following distance.
  3. Use Your Lights: In fog, rain, or snow, use low beams or fog lights to improve visibility without causing glare.
  4. Keep an Emergency Kit: Pack essentials like a flashlight, blankets, snacks, water, and a first-aid kit in case of roadside emergencies.
  5. Plan Your Route: Check weather conditions and road closures before heading out, especially through mountain passes.

Burien Chevrolet Can Help with Winter Prep

Your vehicle’s performance and safety are key to navigating winter roads. At Burien Chevrolet, our expert service team can ensure your car is ready for any condition:

  • Tire Inspection and Replacement: We’ll check your tire tread and recommend winter tires if needed.
  • Brake Check: Ensure your brakes are in top condition for better control on slick roads.

Chargers to feature class-leading charging speeds and showcase ChargePoint’s Omni Port connector system for compatibility with current and future EVs

Today,ChargePoint (NYSE: CHPT), a leading provider of networked charging solutions for electric vehicles (EVs), and General Motors (GM) announced plans to further accelerate EV infrastructure growth in the U.S. The companies are joining efforts to install up to 500 ultra-fast charging ports at strategic locations across the U.S., featuring the latest innovations in EV charging to improve access to chargers and help drivers get back on the road faster than ever. ChargePoint and GM intend for the locations to be opened and available to the public before the end of 2025.

Branded GM Energy, many applicable locations will be equipped with ChargePoint’s revolutionary Omni Port system. Omni Port allows vehicles with CCS or NACS charging ports to seamlessly charge at any charger, without the need to carry an adapter or dedicate a parking space to a particular connector type. Many of the charging stations planned for the collaboration will feature ultra-fast charging through ChargePoint’s Express Plus platform, which is capable of charging speeds up to 500kW.

“The transition to electric mobility continues to be driven by leaders such as General Motors offering innovative EVs and committing to make chargers as ubiquitous as possible,” said Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint. “Our collaboration with GM represents a significant investment in the infrastructure to enable fast and easy charging for all. Together, ChargePoint and GM will deliver a seamless fast charging experience via reliable charging hardware managed by our industry leading software platform.”

“Continuing to provide customers with better charging options helps to remove barriers to EV adoption and improve the ownership experience. Today, GM drivers have access to hundreds of thousands of places to charge and we are proud that this collaboration with ChargePoint adds even more reliable, accessible and convenient charging experiences,” said Wade Sheffer, GM Energy vice president. “With ultra-fast charging, Omni Port technology, and excellent customer experiences, this collaboration should be another reason why EV drivers and the EV-curious should be excited.”

Through the collaboration, ChargePoint and GM are accelerating the deployment of DC fast charging across the U.S. through an incentive program designed to make it easier for third-party charge point operators (CPOs) to own and operate EV charging infrastructure.
