Chevrolet Continues ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’ in October at Talladega, Texas, and Martinsville Races
Chevrolet will contribute $350 to the American Cancer Society for each lap specially-themed pace cars lead field under caution

For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Chevrolet will again support the American Cancer Society by contributing to the cause $350 for every lap run under caution, with a maximum of $50,000, during three NASCAR Cup Series races in October.
To also help raise awareness, a specially-themed pink “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will serve as the pace car at the NASCAR Cup Series races at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama on Oct. 3, Texas Motor Speedway on Oct. 17, and Martinsville Speedway in Virginia on Oct. 31. Chevrolet will also host a limited number of breast cancer survivors and guests at Talladega and Texas, offering them a fun-filled afternoon at the track.
“We are very proud to partner with the American Cancer Society and carry the ACS logo on the pace car during October races,” said Sean Finegan, director, Chevrolet Motorsports Marketing and Activation. “The responses we receive at the tracks are always so positive, and we’re very humbled that we’re able to participate in this cause.”
This is the 11th consecutive year Chevrolet has partnered with the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” initiative through dealership walks, national test drive promotions and national service rebate promotions. Chevrolet also will donate $5 toward the fight against breast cancer this month with every post on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok using the hashtag #WeDriveFor, up to $110,000.

- Popular 6.2L V-8 engine option expands to three more trims: RST, Z71 and Premier
- For Z71, the new, available electronic limited slip differential helps manage torque and increase driving confidence
- A new, larger 12.3-inch-diagonal configurable digital instrument cluster now standard on LT trims and above
- Google Assistant functionality allows drivers to adjust HVAC, control media and more with their voice

The 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban will offer new features and additional technology, including more mechanical options, infotainment improvements and additional standard active safety features.
“Tahoe and Suburban customers keep coming back thanks to the capability, space and technology these vehicles bring to every road trip or daily drive,” said Kelly MacDonald, director, Chevrolet Truck Marketing. “Chevrolet keeps innovating with these popular full-size SUVs, and it’s part of the formula that makes them segment leaders.”
Expanded 6.2L V-8 engine availability and new eLSD option
For customers looking for power, the popular 6.2L V-8 engine rated at 420-horsepower is now available on the RST, Z71 and Premier. The 6.2L engine is standard on the High Country. This engine comes with dual exhaust and features Dynamic Fuel Management technology, designed to optimize engine efficiency across a broad range of driving conditions, including when towing a trailer. When the RST is ordered with the 6.2L V-8, customers also gain Magnetic Ride Control, one of the fastest-reacting damping systems in the industry. Magnetic Ride Control is standard on Premier and High Country and available on Z71.
The 5.3L V-8 remains the standard engine on LS, LT, Z71, RST and Premier models. The optional Duramax 3.0L turbo-diesel is available on all models except Z71. All engines are mated to a standard 10-speed automatic transmission with push-button electronic shift.
New for 2022, the available electronic limited slip differential draws on sports car DNA to deliver improved driving performance in a full-size SUV. If wheel slip is detected on either side of the vehicle, eLSD reacts quickly to shift power to the wheel with better traction. That additional traction can contribute to increased driver confidence in difficult types of terrain and weather conditions. Available on the off-road focused Z71 trim, eLSD also can be used in 4WD Low to help prevent wheelslip in dirt and mud.
Enhanced trailering technology and larger driver information cluster
For 2022, Tahoe and Suburban will now offer up to 13 available, unique camera views1, including a transparent trailer view that helps the driver virtually “see through” a connected, compatible trailer when the truck is properly equipped. Additional new trailering views include a rear trailer view, a picture-in-picture side view, and a view inside a trailer when an accessory camera is connected.
A new, larger 12.3-inch-diagonal configurable digital instrument cluster is now standard on 2022 Tahoe and Suburban for LT trims and above. With four user-selectable layouts, this cluster allows drivers to (customize or personalize) display information in the way most comfortable for them during short trips or a long family adventure.
Seamless infotainment system with Google built-in compatibility
Today’s modern drivers increasingly expect seamless integration between their personal tech and vehicles. With Google built-in,2 standard on trims LT and above, drivers will have access to Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play right on the vehicle display. This new experience works with Android AutoTM3 and Apple CarPlay4 capability and offers new levels of customization and flexibility for customers.
Rather than connect a smartphone and project onto the center screen, select Google apps and services are integrated into the vehicle’s hardwire. Users have access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, and in-vehicle applications on Google Play. The integration will continue to evolve over time, but 2022 Tahoe and Suburban customers will be able to control vehicle functions by voice or the steering wheel, including:
- Phone calls and messaging (SMS), when phone paired
- Audio volume
- Changing AM/FM radio or SiriusXM channel (subscription required5)
- Navigation using Google Maps
- HVAC
The 2022 Tahoe and Suburban will continue to offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
Additional standard active safety features6 and color choices
Safety is an important consideration for many Tahoe and Suburban customers.
The 2022 models have two active safety features now standard across all trims: Front and Rear Park Assist and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning.
Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning uses a brief, gentle steering wheel turn to alert you when you may be unintentionally drifting out of detected lane lines. It is part of a suite of six standard active safety features called Chevy Safety Assist on every trim for the 2022 Tahoe and Suburban. In addition to Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Chevy Safety Assist also includes:
- Automatic Emergency Braking
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- Forward Collision Alert
- Following Distance Indicator
- IntelliBeam auto high beams
Buckle to Drive will be a standard feature on the 2022 Tahoe and Suburban to help remind drivers to buckle up before driving. The feature does not allow a shift out of park until the driver and front passenger, if detected, have their seat belts fastened. Buckling a seat belt is among the top ways drivers can protect themselves in a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Additionally, Tahoe and Suburban also will offer new exterior colors: Evergreen Gray Metallic, Auburn Metallic and Dark Ash Metallic.
The 2022 Tahoe and Suburban will begin production in October.
Chevrolet Bolt EV Battery Production Resumes
In a year that has been filled with manufacturing disruptions, this is great news!

General Motors today outlined a comprehensive action plan to ensure that customers can safely and confidently drive, charge, and park the Chevy Bolt EV and EUV. The action plan includes both hardware and software remedies, some of which are in place with immediate effect.
“We’re grateful for the patience of owners and dealers as we work to advance solutions to this recall,” said Doug Parks, GM executive vice president, Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain. “Resuming battery module production is a first step and we’ll continue to work aggressively with LG to obtain additional battery supply. In addition, we’re optimistic a new advanced diagnostic software will provide more convenience for our customers.”
New battery production
LG battery plants in Holland and Hazel Park, Michigan, have resumed production. In addition, LG is adding capacity to provide more cells to GM. As a result, replacement battery modules will begin shipping to dealers as soon as mid-October.
The root cause of the rare circumstances that could cause a battery fire is two manufacturing defects known as a torn anode and a folded separator, both of which need to be present in the same battery cell.
LG has implemented new manufacturing processes and has worked with GM to review and enhance its quality assurance programs to provide confidence in its batteries moving forward. LG will institute these new processes in other facilities that will provide cells to GM in the future.
Prioritized battery replacement
GM will continue to prioritize Chevy Bolt EV and EUV customers whose batteries were manufactured during specific build timeframes where GM believes battery defects appear to be clustered. The company has established a notification process that will inform affected customers when their replacement modules will be available.
The new batteries will include an extended battery 8-year/100,000-mile limited warranty (or 8-year/160,000 km limited warranty in Canada1).
New advanced diagnostic software
Within approximately 60 days, GM will begin launching a new advanced diagnostic software package that will increase the available battery charging parameters over existing guidance. The diagnostic software will be designed to detect specific abnormalities that might indicate a damaged battery in Bolt EVs and EUVs by monitoring the battery performance; alerting customers of any anomalies; and prioritizing damaged battery modules for replacement. It is GM’s intent that further diagnostic software will allow customers to return to a 100 percent state of charge once all diagnostic processes are complete. This new software, which will be provided to all Bolt EV and EUV owners, requires dealer installation. Owners will be able to start to schedule installation at their Chevy EV dealer in approximately 60 days.
Updated guidance on parking
If customers are following GM’s instructions issued below, they can park in a location of their choice. In an abundance of caution, GM recommends customers leave ample space around their vehicle wherever they choose to park. GM is not aware of any fires that have occurred where customers followed this safety guidance, in parking decks or otherwise.GM’s instructions remain:
- Set the vehicle to a 90 percent state of charge limitation using Target Charge Level mode. Instructions on how to do this are available on chevy.com/boltevrecall. If customers are unable to successfully make these changes or do not feel comfortable making these changes, GM is asking them to visit their dealer to have these adjustments completed.
- Charge the vehicle more frequently and avoid depleting battery below approximately 70 miles (113 km) of remaining range, where possible.
- Continue to park vehicles outside immediately after charging and do not leave vehicles charging indoors overnight.
Customers who have additional questions can visit www.chevy.com/boltevrecall or contact the Chevrolet EV Concierge 1-833-EVCHEVY (available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. – midnight ET; Saturday and Sunday, from noon – 9 p.m. ET) or contact their preferred Chevrolet EV dealer.
Canadian customers can visit the Chevrolet Owner’s Centre or contact their preferred dealer.
1Whichever comes first. Customers can obtain a copy of complete warranty terms and details at the time of the repair.

First-ever Silverado ZR2
The first-ever Silverado ZR2 drives into the flagship position of Chevy Trucks’ factory-lifted off-road lineup, offering race-proven off-road performance customers can buy right from the showroom floor. The ZR2 brings together a premium interior, immersive technology, a number of standard safety equipment features8 and off-road prowess in a comprehensive package.
ZR2’s suspension upgrades, enhanced off-road technology and exterior enhancements were developed to optimize off-road performance and capability — whether desert running or rock crawling — while balancing everyday driving comfort and supporting comparable payload and trailering capability12 to other Silverado off-road trims. ZR2 max payload is 1,440 pounds and the conventional trailer weight rating is 8,900 pounds14.
ZR2 highlights include:
- Standard 6.2L V-8 engine, delivering 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission
- Silverado-first application of Multimatic 40mm DSSV spool-valve dampers, which feature:
- Three separate spool valves to control damping
- Three connected chambers for fluid flow
- Uniquely-tuned springs that, with the Multimatic dampers, increase maximum front and rear suspension travel, compared to the Silverado Trail Boss
- Front and rear e-lockers
- Specific off-road chassis and suspension calibrations, including Terrain Mode, which allows one-pedal5 rock crawling
- Specific 33-inch off-road MT tires
- Unique skid plate package
- New high-approach steel front bumper designed for off-road strength, durability and clearance that enables an improved 31.8-degree approach angle compared to other Silverado off-road models
The bumper is designed with removable end caps for easier replacement in the event of close encounters with rocks or other off-road objects. The dual exhaust has been placed before the rear bumper to eliminate potential damage.
“Chevrolet has been competing on some of the most grueling, toughest off-road courses with a prototype Silverado ZR2 in the Best in the Desert race series,” said Dom Lester, General Motors chief engineer, Performance Variants, Parts and Motorsports Engineering. “We applied what we learned in racing and Moab testing to the new ZR2 to offer a supremely capable and confidence-inspiring package, but one that doesn’t beat you up on the highway with its ride quality. It’s equally capable and comfortable.”
In addition to its functional features, the new Silverado ZR2 is distinguished by several aesthetic cues, including a new black hood insert, a unique grille with integrated lighting and a “flow-tie” emblem, ZR2 badges, unique 18-inch wheels and a unique Jet Black/Graystone leather-trimmed interior, with complementing dark trim.
Elevated exterior design
Starting with an already bold style, the Silverado’s designers enhanced the 2022 model with elements that reinforce the truck’s wide, stable and confidence-inspiring stance while also incorporating refined cues that reflect how many customers use their trucks today — often as a family’s primary vehicle.
On the exterior, every trim receives a new front fascia and grille design that lowers the headlamps to emphasize the Silverado’s strength and stability. On LT models and above, the wing-shaped daytime running lamps that were introduced in 2019 are revised and feature animated lighting sequences when approaching, starting or walking away from the vehicle.
What hasn’t changed with the new 2022 Silverado’s exterior design is the durability and versatility. The sturdy, roll-formed high-strength-steel construction of the bed floor is the foundation for a class-leading6 89.1 cubic feet of standard cargo bed volume.
There are also 12 standard tie-downs, more than any competitor, and innovative features such as the available and industry-first power up/down tailgate and the available six-position Multi-Flex tailgate.
Three new exterior colors are offered with the refreshed 2022 Silverado: Dark Ash, Sand Dune and a vibrant blue recently named Glacier Blue Metallic13 by some of the most loyal Chevy owners, Chevy Truck Legends.
All-new interior appointments
Silverado has a refreshed interior on the LT trim and above, incorporating new materials into a design that gives the cabin a spacious and more premium feel.
The new interior is rooted in a driver-oriented instrument panel that incorporates a bold 13.4-inch-diagonal horizontal touchscreen, along with a 12.3-inch-diagonal digital, configurable instrument cluster. Notably, the vertical elements of the 2021 model’s instrument panel have been replaced with horizontal lines and floating elements that enhance the feeling of spaciousness to the Silverado’s cabin.
“It’s a more contemporary, refined design that elevates the premium nature of the interior,” said Alexandre Scartezini, Chevrolet Truck lead interior designer. “It’s also a more driver-oriented space that’s connected to our performance heritage, with a hint of Corvette influence in its design DNA.”
Additionally, the new center console incorporates an available electronic shift controller in models with bucket seats.
The look and feel of the interior are elevated with new available colors, seat designs and more premium materials throughout. That’s especially true for the top-level High Country trim, which features new and unique elements including:
- Authentic open-pore wood trim on the console, upper glove box and doors
- Standard leather seating surfaces with an exclusive custom perforation and stitching pattern
- Stainless steel speaker grilles with the Bose premium audio system, standard on High Country and LTZ
- Two interior color choices, Jet Black or Nightshift Blue
Dynamic integrated technologies
Silverado’s new infotainment7 screen is the centerpiece of the more intuitive technology and is paired with a new digital, configurable instrument cluster. Together, they provide customers with a bold, panoramic and at-a-glance view of the important vehicle feature readouts and infotainment settings.
The configurable cluster and infotainment display are designed to engage customers with new levels of personalization and intuitive interaction. It starts the moment the driver slides behind the wheel and the driver information center comes to life. The available Rear Camera Mirror8 and Head-Up Display take the total to four technologically advanced screens, each helping provide an engaging and comprehensive driving experience.
The standard four user-selectable cluster layouts enable flexibility for a display that meets individual needs: the simplest layout for long, flat highways or more information for technical trails or heavy traffic. And if a driver is preparing for snow, ice or off-roading ahead, engaging visuals can represent the terrain mode selected.
Additionally, all Silverado trims LT and above are equipped with Google built-in2 compatibility. With it, customers can control certain vehicle functions by saying, “Hey Google” or pressing the “push to talk” button on the steering wheel. Customers can use their voice to call or text friends, listen to music, set reminders, or even change the temperature in the car.
Google built-in complements technologies Silverado customers have already come to love, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, as well as available Amazon Alexa9.
Super Cruise1 driver-assistance features
The enhanced 2022 Silverado will be the first Chevy pickup offered with available Super Cruise, the industry’s first true hands-free driver-assistance technology for compatible roads. It is available on Silverado High Country and can be used on more than 200,000 miles (320,000 km) of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada.
Super Cruise employs many advanced technology features, including a Driver Attention System and precision LiDAR map data. The Driver Attention System uses a small camera located on the top of the steering column and works with infrared lights to determine where the driver is looking whenever Super Cruise is in operation.
If the Driver Attention System detects the driver’s gaze has turned away from the road ahead for too long, the steering wheel light bar will prompt the driver to return their attention to the road. If the system determines continued inattentiveness, it will use visible and audible alerts to notify the driver to take back control of the wheel.
Super Cruise can be used when trailering with the Silverado, with specific calibrations designed to account for the additional drag and increased braking distance that comes with trailering. When not trailering, Lane Change on Demand and Automatic Lane Change are also available with Super Cruise.
The 2022 Silverado’s capability to tow hands-free on compatible roads adds to trailering technology leadership that includes up to eight available cameras. No competitor offers more camera views10. The available Advanced Trailering System with an in-vehicle trailering app11 helps make trailering easier from departure to arrival.
In addition to Super Cruise, the 2022 Silverado also offers other driver-assistance features with trailering in mind, including Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert8, which accounts for the length of the trailer when changing lanes, and enhancements to Adaptive Cruise Control8 to enable use while trailering.
For the new 2022 Silverado, Chevy Safety Assist8, a suite of six standard active safety features, is standard on every trim, and includes Forward Collision Alert, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, and IntelliBeam auto high beams.
Additional safety features such as HD Rear Vision Camera8 and Buckle to Drive are standard across the lineup for the new 2022 Silverado models.
Silverado propulsion and capability
The Silverado’s propulsion lineup is strengthened and streamlined for the new 2022 models, starting with significant enhancements to the 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine. It leads with more torque than any base engine in its class and has a maximum trailering rating of 9,500 pounds in a two-wheel drive configuration12.
A new, more rigid cylinder block casting is the foundation for the refined 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine and it’s complemented with a 30-percent-stiffer crankshaft. The engine maintains its fully forged bottom end as well as technology used in diesel engines to deliver on truck durability.
These enhancements enabled engineers to reduce noise and tune the engine for greater torque production, particularly in the usable low-mid rpm range. Maximum torque is GM-estimated at 420 lb-ft (569 Nm), over a 20-percent increase compared to the current engine.
There also have been shift scheduling revisions of the 2.7L Turbo High-Output engine’s complementing eight-speed automatic transmission to offer smoother shifting, along with quicker downshifts, for a greater feeling of refinement and power on demand.
The other engine that sees improvements is the popular 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel. Chassis changes now allow inclusion of the max tow package, so the 3.0L Duramax now has a max tow rating of 13,300 pounds in a two-wheel drive configuration12. This is a 4,000-pound improvement over the 2022 Silverado LTD models and brings new capability to an engine praised for its smooth ride and impressive efficiency.
Both engines are part of a propulsion lineup that also includes the proven 5.3L V-8 with Dynamic Fuel Management and the 6.2L V-8 — the most powerful naturally aspirated V-8 engine in the segment. All V-8 engines and the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel are paired exclusively with a 10-speed automatic transmission for retail customers.

Parents express apprehension about being on the road this school year; Chevrolet Traverse offers safety features to help give them added peace of mind
As families prepare for their return to in-person school after a year of virtual learning, 68 percent of parents indicate being back on the road every day is a concern when thinking about their children going back to school.
With the back-to-school season in full swing, Chevrolet worked with The Harris Poll to survey more than 1,000 parents of school-aged children to discover how the pandemic affected their driving skills and the new realities that teen drivers face.
The pandemic impacted how often people were on the road, with 56 percent of parents saying they drove less during the pandemic. Over time, basic driving skills can be forgotten, which may lead to careless driving. According to the survey:
- 61 percent of parents agree that with fewer people on the road last year, they were able to drive more carefree.
- Now, over three-quarters of parents surveyed report that they drive more defensively with more people on the road.
Teen drivers were impacted by a different complication during the pandemic. Nearly half of parents with a driving-aged child say their child experienced a delay in becoming a licensed driver during the pandemic. And, as more teen drivers prepare to be on the road this school year, the survey shows most teens and new drivers will be in the vehicle without adult supervision. The survey also showed:
- 61 percent of parents are concerned about their teen on the road because of lost practice time due to the pandemic.
- 78 percent of parents worry when their child is on the road because other drivers seem more unsafe than before the pandemic.
- 73 percent of parents report to notice more aggravated drivers on the road than before the pandemic.
“With so much on our minds as we prepare for this school year, it’s easy for both parents and teens to forget basic driving skills and road safety,” said Tricia Morrow, Chevrolet safety engineer. “Safety is at the forefront of what we do at Chevrolet, and the safety features available in many of our Chevrolet products, including the Traverse, help bring families peace of mind as drivers – both experienced and new – hit the road.”
The 2022 Chevrolet Traverse features multiple active safety and driver assistance features, supporting driver safety. The survey found that 79 percent of parents agree that in-vehicle technology helps give them peace of mind.
Active safety, driver assistance and other features on the 2022 Traverse include:
- Chevy Safety Assist1, standard on all trims includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert and IntelliBeam automatic high beam control.
- Teen Driver, a technology that, when active, helps parents coach their new drivers – even when the teens are alone in the vehicle. It allows parents to set a speed alert, a volume limit and more. And, with the industry’s first and only in-vehicle report card, it’s easy to track a teen’s driving performance.
- Buckle To Drive, a safety technology that, when active, can prevent the driver from shifting the vehicle out of park if the driver’s seat belt is not buckled for up to 20 seconds. This feature is designed to help remind all drivers to buckle up before driving.
- Stay connected to teen drivers with new Wireless Apple CarPlay2 and Android Auto3 phone projection capability. Additionally, when activated, OnStar Automatic Crash Response4 can connect drivers to an Emergency-Certified Advisor5 who can contact help even if they can’t ask for it.
SURVEY METHODOLOGY
This survey was conducted online by The Harris Poll July 28 – Aug. 4, 2021, on behalf of Chevrolet, among 1,204 adults who are 18 years+ of age and who have a child age 3 to 18 years old that will attend school outside of the home this coming school year. Data were weighted to be representative of the ages 18+ U.S. general population.
New Twist on America’s Favorites: Chevrolet and Guy Fieri to Debut Apple Pie Hot Dog at MLB at Field of Dreams

Would you try it??
Chevrolet today announced a collaboration with Guy Fieri, award-winning chef, restaurateur and influential television culinary star, to create the ultimate ballpark snack – the Apple Pie Hot Dog.
The Apple Pie Hot Dog, which brings together two quintessentially American foods in a single and crave-worthy snack, is inspired by a notable Chevrolet television advertisement from 1975. The ad’s jingle asserted “baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet go together in the good old U.S.A.” Chevy enlisted Fieri, the mayor of Flavortown, to lead the development and creation of the recipe.
“As a long-time Chevy guy, it’s awesome to be working together on this funky throwback snack for the MLB at Field of Dreams Game,” said Fieri. “I can’t wait to see the reactions from fans as they take their first bite of the Apple Pie Hot Dog!”
The one-of-a-kind recipe will feature an all-beef hot dog, apple pie filling, and Fieri’s signature bacon jam, enveloped in flaky pie crust, and topped with an apple mustard drizzle, apple pie spice, and demerara sugar. The Apple Pie Hot Dog will be offered exclusively to attendees of MLB at Field of Dreams Presented by GEICO in Dyersville, Iowa, on Aug. 12.
“From the major leagues to local community teams, Chevrolet has long been a proud supporter of baseball,” said Steve Majoros, vice president, Chevrolet Marketing. “We’re excited about the Apple Pie Hot Dog because it helps us celebrate and connect with a community of fans at the MLB at Field of Dreams Game, a uniquely American event.”
Inspired by the 1989 Universal Pictures film of the same name and held at the fan-favorite destination, the MLB at Field of Dreams Game marks the first Major League game ever held in the state of Iowa.
