Chevrolet is a reliable manufacturer that produces many great small and subcompact vehicles. We're particularly impressed by the 2018 Cruze and 2018 Sonic, but choosing between the two can present a challenge. We've broken down some features of each car to help you determine which is right for you. Design The 2018 Cruze is available as both a sedan and a hatchback, depending on your stylistic preferences. We like the hatchback design, thanks to its ease of access when it comes to loading and unloading your gear. However, both versions are equally sporty, offer plenty of storage space, and come in a variety of eye-catching paint jobs. You're sure to appreciate the projector-beam headlamps, available LED daytime running lamps, and heated seats. The 2018 Sonic also makes a great first impression. Like the Cruze, it comes in both sedan and hatchback versions and features flourishes like LED daytime running lamps. Rear 60/40 folding seats also provide a surprising amount of cargo space for a compact car. What we really like about the 2018 Sonic is its customizability. You can outfit your Sonic in Orange Burst Metallic paint and add in any number of fun accessories, making this car a great way to express your own style. Power and Performance You might not expect a huge engine in a compact car, but the 2018 Cruze has more than enough power to do the job. The standard option is a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine capable of generating 153 horsepower and 177 pounds per foot of torque. An available 1.6-liter diesel engine is also turbocharged, offering up to 137 horsepower and 240 pounds per foot of torque. The Sonic is roughly comparable to the performance of the Cruze, with a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine that generates up to 138 horsepower. You can also upgrade to an ECOTEC 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine, although this does not offer any increase in horsepower. Both engines provide you with excellent gas mileage, but neither is quite as efficient as the 2018 Cruze. If you value fuel efficiency, the Cruze offers slightly better value. more Price Of course, you can't make an intelligent purchasing decision without taking cost into consideration. The 2018 Cruze has a modest MSRP of $16,975. This is a great price for an entry-level car packed with as many features as the Cruze, but you can also select from several upgrades. A fully-outfitted Premier Cruze comes at a price of $24,895, while opting for the diesel version of the Cruze will run you about $26,795. The 2018 Sonic might be an even better bargain for budget-conscious consumers. This robust little compact has an MSRP of $15,295. The Premier version, representing the highest level of trim, tops out at $22,195. This is a significant savings over the price of the 2018 Cruze, but whether it's enough to be the deciding factor is likely to vary from driver to driver. As you can see, there are plenty of reasons to prefer either the 2018 Cruze or the 2018 Sonic. There's no wrong answer when you're choosing between two sporty, reliable compact cars. Burien Public Art Creative Walking Tour Explore your community in a whole new way when you take a walking tour of art. Start your journey of Burien's outdoor arts scene at the Community Center Annex with the skate park tiles. Tour 15 different locations all over the city like the Dancing Ghost in Dotty Happer Park to the Helios Pavilion in Town Square. The city of Burien is decorated in bold colors and a variety of materials like metal, glass, and concrete. Burien Arts Association Now in its 52nd year, Burien Arts Association's mission is to enrich the lives of residents through creative endeavors. Located at 826 SW 152nd St., the Association is open Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 7 p.m., and Sundays until 4 p.m. This group recently began debuting all-new pop-up art exhibits in the City Hall Lobby and the Burien Community Center, with the finest in arts programming on display for you to experience. Phillip Levine Sculptor Delightful artisan Phillip Levine works primarily in bronze, creating figurative sculptures with a humanist nature. After earning his degree in art from the University of Colorado, Phillip has completed over 50 public and private art commissions displayed in numerous museums and gallery exhibitions around the Pacific Northwest, especially in Burien. more Scarlet Ibis Gallery From greeting cards and affordable prints to signed works by internationally-known artists, discover something unique at Scarlet Ibis Gallery. This gallery shows the works of local artists and pieces from creatives all over the world, with a commitment to bringing smart and exciting artwork to Burien. Located inside of Phoenix Tea at 447 SW 52nd St., the gallery is open Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday until 8 p.m., and Friday noon to 6 p.m. Highline Performing Arts Center The Highline Performing Arts Center is a state-of-the-art theater with seating for 800 spectators. Operated by Burien's Highline Public Schools, the Performing Center is also home to the Miss Washington pageant. Located at 401 South 152nd St., this centers lets you take in a performance from the Northwest Symphony Orchestra and enjoy comfortable seating and excellent acoustics. Dream Catcher Statue Prominently displayed at Leschi Park on the corner of 32nd Avenue and Yesler in Seattle, just a half hour from Burien, is a tribute to Bernie Whitebear and his sister Luana Reyes, who devoted their lives to Indian Civil Rights and the preservation of their culture. The Dream Catcher statue was commissioned to replace the deteriorating Native American Thunderbird. The statue was unveiled through an awe-inspiring traditional Native American dedication ceremony. Local Ojibwa Indians believe that only good dreams are allowed to filter through, while bad dreams are caught in the net. The 2018 Chevy Impala is the latest incarnation of Chevy's popular full-size sedan model. With a spacious interior, beautiful exterior style lines, and a ton of modern features, this latest version updates the Impala for today's driver. Able to work easily as either a small family vehicle or commuter car (or both!) the 2018 Impala is a flexible vehicle that combines both practicality and style. Here are some reasons you're bound to love the 2018 Chevy Impala. Technology Although the Impala hasn't had a full redesign in a few years, Chevy has implemented continuous technology updates in order to keep the sedan fully up to date. This practice is evident in the 2018 Impala. Drivers will enjoy full smartphone integration via either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. The 3.6L gets a reduced 18 miles-per-gallon in the city and 28 on the highway but gets noticeably more power, a fair trade-off for drivers that prioritize power over fuel economy. Regardless of which engine you choose, the weight of the Impala helps create a smooth ride with clean acceleration and responsive handling. Finely tuned brakes help compensate for the extra braking time that often plagues larger vehicles. These are just a few reasons while you'll love the 2018 Chevy Impala. Combining impressive fuel economy and a uniquely styled body, the 2018 Chevy Spark is designed for urban living and is already making waves in the mini-vehicle community. Read on to find out why the Spark is the best city-designed car on the market. Size The 2018 Spark's small size allows for nimble handling in crowded cities. Even sub-compact vehicles can struggle with narrow streets and tight turns. Features Although the Chevy Spark is small, it's packed with features. The base model comes standard with a rear-vision backup camera and a 7-inch color infotainment touchscreen with Chevrolet MyLink radio, a generous 3-month trial of GM's OnStar system, and 4G LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity. Higher tiers also include add-on features like power windows and remote keyless entry. In addition, the base model has full smartphone integration via either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, which allows drivers to access their favorite apps, including navigation and entertainment options, via voice control. The top tier model also has cruise control, wheel-mounted controls, a leather steering wheel, and heated front seats. more Fuel Economy Thanks to the 2018 Spark's diminutive size and accompanying smaller 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine, it gets excellent gas mileage. The manual transmission is EPA-rated at 29 miles in the city, 37 on the highway, while the automatic continuously variable transmission models are bumped up to 30 and 39 miles per gallon in the city and highway, respectively. Drive The Spark truly shines in city driving, with light responsive steering and snappy acceleration. It produces 98 horsepower overall, and all models come with front-wheel drive configurations. It handles bumps in the road with little issue thanks to its great suspension system. This year’s Detroit Auto Show saw a huge array of debuts from automakers everywhere, but it was all about the trucks this year. Several big brands revealed new models and concepts, but the 2019 Chevy Silverado made one the boldest statements of the show. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was unveiled in Detroit’s Eastern Market at the show and its fresh new design drew huge crowds. The 2019 Silverado will offer eight distinct trim levels, so each trim will attract a different type of customer and use. Here a few highlights of the 2019 Silverado. Bulkier, but Lighter The 2019 Silverado is much lighter than its predecessor- by about 450lbs! In order to shed the weight, Chevrolet didn’t take the all-aluminum route, but rather strategically mixed different materials. A variety of methods was used to make the lighter truck, including roll forming, hydroforming, and tailor-rolled blanking. The doors, hood and tailgate are aluminum while panels such as fenders, roof, and bed are conventional steel. The underlying safety cage is a blend of seven grades of steel alloys. Design & Power that Screams Muscle The 2019 Silverado brought a brand new look to Detroit. There is less straight-edge lines than its predecessors and instead more free-flowing forms give it a more muscular and bold look. The 2019 Silverado is definitely making a bigger statement than its competition, but it’s also actually bigger in size, too. The driver sits about an inch higher than the 2018 Silverado, and the wheelbase on the Crew Cab is nearly 4 inches longer. Six engine & transmission combinations will also be available. Of those six includes a 5.3-liter V8, a 6.2-liter V8, and a Duramax 3.0-liter inline 6 diesel paired with a 10-speed transmission. more Advanced Features The latest version of GM’s 4G LTE wireless capability will be available across all trim levels for the 2019 Silverado. The exciting new GM Marketplace App will also be available. The advanced app allows drivers to purchase items such as coffee and make restaurant reservations while on the road using the dashboard touchscreen.
