The Museum of Pop Culture Seattle is known for its unique culture, and there's no better place to experience it than at this museum attraction. Just across the street, you'll find a range of hotel accommodations and parks, and a short drive down Alaskan Way will get you to Seattle Aquarium and the famous Pike Place Market. Blake Island Marine State Park If you prefer a calming afternoon away from city crowds, plan a trip to Blake Island Marine State Park. Accessible only by boat, this island park is popular for camping, fishing, boating, and hiking. Plus, you'll be treated to gorgeous views of the Seattle skyline and Washington's mountains. Tiger Mountain State Forest For those who'd rather skip the ferry ride or want to get lost in a more expansive part of the state, head east to visit Tiger Mountain State Forest. This huge, secluded area spans nearly 14,000 acres and has miles of trails that are perfect for hiking, bike riding, and horseback riding. The trails are hugged with lush greenery, and the park has a few waterfalls you can visit. Dogs are allowed if you keep them on a leash. Museum of History and Industry The Museum of History and Industry is another must for people who are interested in local culture. The attraction documents life in Seattle and the Puget Sound and is known for a few unique exhibits, like the iconic Rainier Beer “R,” showcasing life in the Pacific Northwest. The Redline is a first-ever series that Chevy introduced for its 2018 lineup of vehicles. Named for the eponymous stripes on the inside of each rim and other red details across the body, these vehicles are notorious head-turners. But it's not just the unique look that makes them a popular option for drivers who like style — particularly for those who prefer a utility-focused truck like the Colorado. These are some of the specs, performance features, and other benefits that make the 2018 Chevy Colorado Redline exceptional. Exterior Accents The first thing you can expect and will likely notice from these vehicles is the exterior design. A few touches are exclusive to these models. Red accents more line the interior of rims and can be seen on the body, such as with the red front tow hooks on the Colorado. These trucks also sport signature black wheels and black grilles and bowties, which makes already powerful rides like the 2018 Chevy Colorado look even faster and more dominating. Perks of the Colorado The Redline enhancements are available for the Chevy Colorado, which is a highly-rated pickup with very competitive specs. Most notably, the Colorado has a high towing capacity. The bed length can also be configured to a maximum length of 74 inches, depending on the exact build. Exclusive to the LT If you want a Redline Series Colorado, you have to build the LT trim. This is the mid-level of five trims Highlights of the LT include:17-inch wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an 8-inch color touch screen. A 3-6-liter V-6 is the standard engine on the LT. This gets 308 horsepower and delivers 275 pound-feet of torque. Four-wheel drive is also standard. Also, your upgrade to the Redline Edition package will include power-adjustable seat controls, projector headlamps, and single-zone automatic climate control, among other features. Customizations for Your Chevy Truck The Redline Edition is only available on the LT trim of the Chevy Colorado. However, you still have a few choices for how you configure the vehicle. First, you can pick a crew cab, short box or one of the two long box options — an extended cab or crew cab. The short box is 61.7 inches, and the long boxes are 74.7 inches. You can also pick either two-wheel or four-wheel drive and one of three engines: a 2.5-liter I-4, a 3.6-liter V-6, or a 2.8-liter Turbo-Diesel I-4. Note that certain powertrains are exclusive to certain builds. For example, if you want a Turbo-Diesel I-4 on the extended cab, you must build a four-wheel-drive Colorado. The Redline Edition encompasses a range of Chevy vehicles, including its trucks, cars, crossovers, and SUVs. The largest city in Washington, Seattle is home to an assortment of interesting landmarks designed to attract tourists, including the Space Needle and Olympic Sculpture Park. The gorgeous coastal views of Puget Sound also delightfully pair with Seattle's diverse museums, many of which offer seasonal showcases to entice the curious mind. Here are three of these top exhibits we recommend catching in spring. The Vikings Begin The Vikings of early Scandinavia hailed from countries such as Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, carrying with them a rich history filled with stories of conquest, settlement, and social hierarchies. They were also the first Europeans to establish communities in North America, and despite popular belief, they weren't simply known for raiding. You can find out more about them at "The Vikings Begin" exhibit at Seattle's Nordic Museum until April 14, 2019. more All the era-specific artifacts on display come from the Gustavianum museum at Sweden's Uppsala University and include interesting archeological gems dating back more than 1,300 years, including elegantly adorned weaponry such as helmets, swords, and spearheads. Gravesite excavations have also uncovered ancient accessories, including a bracelet embellished with glass beads and a female figurehead etched from animal bone. With My Own Eyes The Holocaust was the genocide of two-thirds of the European Jewish population as well as other civilians and prisoners of war during Adolf Hitler's reign in Nazi Germany during World War II. "Diary of a Young Girl" details life in hiding during the time; Anne Frank's memoir, as well as the testimonies of Holocaust victims and survivors, is the focus of the "With My Own Eyes" exhibit at the Henry and Sandra Friedman Holocaust Center for Humanity. Currently undergoing renovations, the showcase is expected to reopen on Jan. 6, 2019, and continue well into the spring as a permanent museum exhibit. Features include an Anne Frank annex with an enlarged diary replica, an Eternal Light memorial, Reflection Wall, and various photos providing a glimpse of the war's impact on these individuals during this dark time in European history. Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has done wonders in the field of space exploration since its 1958 inauguration. One of its most notable missions was the 1969 Apollo 11 spaceflight that became the first moon landing. The spacecraft launched from Cape Kennedy with crew members Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins in the Apollo 11 command module Columbia. Armstrong and Aldrin successfully landed on the moon in the lunar module Eagle, spending 21 hours and 36 minutes on the surface before returning to Columbia and traveling safely back to Earth. To commemorate the mission's 50th anniversary, The Museum of Flight will host an exhibit, appropriately named "Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission" on its main campus from April 13 to Sept. 2, 2019. This showcase will offer a 3-D tour of the historic Columbia spacecraft and offer an up-close look at artifacts from the Smithsonian Institution, including star navigation tools and a pair of gloves and helmet worn by Aldrin during the expedition. Olympic National Park covers almost a million acres and has incredible diversity. Old-growth rainforests, over 70 miles of coastline, and glacier-capped mountains are all there to be experienced. With fewer visitors, winter can be an exhilarating time to explore what the park has to offer and here are five reasons you should go. Rainforest Hiking The Pacific Northwest is known for its rainfall and with an average of 12 feet of rain per year in Olympic Park, the temperate climate here is perfect for sustaining the rainforests. During the wet winters, the forests really come alive. Put on your raincoat and galoshes and walk the trails beneath the lush green canopy of the trees. Big-leaf maple, Douglas fir, more Sitka spruce, western hemlock, and red alder all thrive here, as do a variety of mosses and ferns. Of the four rainforests, Hoh and Quinault are the most easily accessible, but be prepared to get wet. Winter Storm Watching Pacific storms can create ocean swells of 15 to 20 feet in height, which crash onto the shore and toss fallen trees around like they were matchsticks. At low tide between storms, you can beachcomb, explore the tidal pools, and marvel at the huge storm-tossed logs. One of the best places to watch the spectacular storms is Cape Flattery, the most north-westerly point of the contiguous United States. Skiing and Snowboarding Hurricane Ridge is at an elevation of 5,242 feet and is usually covered in snow from December to the end of March. Along with the opportunity for downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and tubing, you will be rewarded with some of the most stunning views in Olympic National Park. The family-friendly Hurricane Ridge Ski and Snowboard Area features two rope tows, a poma lift, a tubing park, and a Snowplay Area for small children. Equipment can be rented, and ski and snowboarding lessons are available. The area is open on weekends and holiday Mondays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Snowshoeing During the winter season, you can join ranger-guided snowshoe walks, which are offered on weekends and holiday Mondays at 2 p.m. Instructions and snowshoes are provided by the park. The walk is moderate, covering less than a mile, and lasts around 1.5 hours. Sign-up is 30 minutes before the walk at the Hurricane Ridge information desk. Groups need to make reservations in advance. Makah Museum Located in the Makah Tribe Reservation, the Makah Museum in Neah Bay features artifacts from a Makah village that was partially buried by a mudslide between 300 and 500 years ago. The exhibits include basketry, fishing and whaling gear, and replicas of canoes and a longhouse, giving you a unique glimpse of pre-contact Makah life. Whatever winter activity you plan to do in Olympic National Park, you should be aware that weather conditions can change quickly. In bad weather, some areas and facilities may not be accessible. Washington roads can be dangerous in the winter. Ice makes for some tricky situations for vehicles and drivers. Know what preventative and reactive actions you can take before and while you're on the ice. Burien Chevrolet knows cars and how to drive them safely. We've put together a list of our top tips for driving on ice. Reduce Speed The best practices in avoiding bad situation are preventative ones. The best way to prevent sliding on ice? Drive slower. Once your vehicle starts sliding on ice, the forces that were moving your car forward will be used against it. It sounds like more simple advice, but driving slower ensures your car will have less force to flow through when it starts sliding. Watch for any signs that warn of ice when you're driving through wintry weather. If you think there might be even the slightest chance of black ice on the road, slow down. Always slow down to a safe speed when taking turns. Don't Panic If you feel your vehicle hit a patch of ice, the best thing you can do it stay calm. Panicking is a sure-fire way to lose control over your vehicle. Don't slam on the brakes when you hit that ice. Even if your car is equipped with anti-lock brakes, it's likely your wheels will lock regardless. Once they do, there's no stopping your vehicle. You'll have to ride it out. If your vehicle does start to slide, try to keep your car facing forward by turning your steering wheel to make your wheels face the direction you want to go. This will help keep your car from spinning completely out of control. Take your foot off the brakes and let the vehicle coast to a slower speed until you can safely handle it again. Know Before You Go Before you head outside and take a drive, analyze the situation. Start by checking the weather reports. Your local news source is a good one to check for inclement weather. If you're taking a longer trip, research your route to know what you're dealing with. If ice is going to form, it'll happen during the night and early morning. Aim to drive during the warmest parts of the day, especially when it'll be above the freezing point. However, never assume there won't be any black ice along your path. Make Safe Turns When you see a turn coming up, slow down to a safe, manageable speed. The best way to do this is simply taking your foot off the gas pedal ahead of the time to avoid using the brake. As you make the turn, do your best to not accelerate or brake hard. Curves in the road are where the most fish-tails happen. Again, if you start to drift while making the turn, stay calm. Turn your steering wheel the way you want to go, stay off the brakes, and don't over-correct. Be prepared, and be smart about your driving. If you don't have to go, don't. Museum of Pop Culture Before you even enter MoPOP you can take in the futuristic and colorful design of the building with its 21,000 stainless steel and aluminum shingles with the Space Needle as a backdrop. Exhibitions include Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes, featuring artwork, costumes from the movies, and other artifacts. See the stories of Seattle's icons — Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam. Get hands-on in the immersive Sound Lab and explore other worlds in the Holodome. Winter Sports at Snoqualmie Pass If you need to escape the cabin fever and fill your lungs with fresh mountain air, you can drive to Snoqualmie Pass in less than an hour on I-90. With four ski areas covering almost 2,000 acres, there are facilities for skiing and snowboarding. Some runs are illuminated and open until 10 p.m. for night skiing. There are also more than 30 miles of groomed Nordic trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. A newly opened development, The Pass Life, features the Washington State Ski & Snowboard Museum, with interactive exhibits charting the development of winter sports. Also incorporated in the new community are the Commonwealth Cafe and the Dru Bru brewery and taproom. Take a Boat Trip Another way to beat the indoor blues is to wrap up warm and take one of the boat trips from Seattle's Central Waterfront. The narrated Seattle Harbor cruise lasts for an hour and gives you a different perspective of the city from the Harbor and Elliot Bay. Alternatively, you could take a personalized 2-hour cocktail cruise along Lake Union. You'll see the major Seattle landmarks, as well as seaplanes taking off and landing and the many floating homes on the lake. Chocolate Factory Tour After all that fresh air, why not take a tour of the fair-trade Theo Chocolate Factory? On the entertaining and informative tour, you will learn about the chocolate making process from bean to bar. And, of course, there will be chocolate tasting throughout the tour, which lasts around an hour. The 2019 Chevrolet Camaro is here and better than ever. It's been redesigned to distinguish itself from its ancestors, and it packs more exciting features than ever. Burien Chevrolet is amped about these exciting changes and updates. Here are highlights of some of our favorite features of the new Camaro. Updated Modernity The 2019 Camaro has been reimagined to give the ride an even bolder look than its predecessors. It's more rounded-out than the last couple years' incarnations, giving it a more sleek, performance-minded atmosphere. The hoods are taller than last year's, swooping down into its new grilles. The tail has an aggressive design that can easily be picked out of a crowd. The 2019 Camaro comes in seven trims: the 1LS, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, 1SS, 2SS, and the powerful ZL1.  Each has that distinct Camaro charisma, but each is bigger and tougher than the last. The new Camaro is also more customizable than it's ever been. You have the option between hard-top roofs and convertibles. Choose your body stripes, emblems, floormats, and wheels. The different trim levels bring different looks to the Camaro. Make your sports car match you, not the other way around. Power and Performance The base trim 2019 Camaro gets 275 horsepower from its standard 2.0-liter engine. At the top of the food chain, the Camaro ZL1 gets a supercharged 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque from its 6.2-liter V-8 engine, making it a force on the tracks. There are four powertrain options to give you your perfect balance between power and efficiency. Each of the Camaro trim levels come standard with six-speed manual transmissions, but eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmissions are available for all of them.
