Chevrolet corvette ZR1

The 2025 Corvette ZR1 with 1,064 horsepower is the quickest Corvette ever, achieving 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds1 with the available ZTK Performance Package.

The ZTK-equipped ZR1 also runs the quarter mile in 9.6 seconds1. The standard ZR1 sprints to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and finishes the quarter mile in 9.7 seconds1.

“The 2025 Corvette ZR1 yet again exceeded our expectations,” said Josh Holder, chief engineer, Corvette. “Combined with a top speed record of 233 mph – which is unrivaled by any current production car priced under $1 million – the Corvette ZR1 delivers on its mission to provide customers unrelenting power.”

A closer look demonstrates how ZR1 can be a standout track tool and a powerful grand touring vehicle all at once. ZR1 with ZTK, which includes the high-downforce Carbon Fiber Aero Package, bursts from a standstill on ultra-grippy Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, taking a clear edge to 60 mph. The equally balanced standard aero ZR1 sails to a 152 mph quarter mile trap speed, 2 mph faster than the ZTK-equipped ZR1. All tests were done with 93 octane pump fuel and were performed on a non-prepped drag strip surface.

Quick, repeatable launches are enabled by Corvette’s standard Launch Control and Custom Launch Control features, found throughout the lineup from Stingray to ZR1. Launch Control is programmed to manage tire spin, transmission clutch application rate, and more, enabling rapid launches automatically. Custom Launch Control allows the driver to have more control to adjust for real-time conditions, optimizing acceleration runs by adjusting launch RPM and wheel slip targets from the steering wheel controls.

  • 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm, per SAE guidelines — the most power ever from a factory Corvette and the most powerful V8 ever produced in America from an auto manufacturer
  • The fastest car ever built by an American auto manufacturer, capable of 233 mph
  • Purposeful carbon fiber aero package creating over 1,200 pounds of downforce at top speed

Eighth-generation Corvette 0 to 60 mph stats:

  • Stingray with available Z51 package: 2.9 seconds1
  • Z06 with available Z07 package: 2.6 seconds1
  • E-Ray: 2.5 seconds1

Together, the companies doubled their fast-charging footprint over the last year, expanding nationwide access to public fast charging

EVgo Inc., one of the nation’s largest providers of public fast charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, and General Motors have surpassed 2,000 public fast charging stalls opened through their ongoing metropolitan charging collaboration. To date, EVgo and GM have built fast charging stalls in more than 390 locations in 45 metropolitan markets across 32 states as part of a longstanding collaboration to broaden access to public charging in amenity-rich locations, such as grocery stores, retail centers, and city centers, while also serving customers who are unable to charge at home or work, such as renters and those living in multifamily dwellings.

With their 2,000th stall now open, EVgo and GM are well on their way toward completing a total of 2,850 DC fast charging stalls nationwide, which will also include 400 public fast charging stalls at flagship destinations across major metropolitan markets in states such as Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, New York, and Texas. The companies celebrated the opening of their 1,000th public fast charging stall in August 2023 in Woodbridge, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and continued this momentum in 2024, doubling their EV charging footprint in just over one year.

With more than 2,000 public fast charging stalls across the U.S., General Motors and EVgo are helping drivers access convenient charging.

EVgo and GM’s 2,000th stall is part of a newly opened station that features five 350kW fast chargers capable of serving up to 10 vehicles simultaneously. Conveniently located off Interstate 215, this charging station offers drivers multiple nearby amenities including retail shopping options, as well as coffee shops and dining destinations in Murrieta, California. This site was awarded funding by the California Energy Commission under its FAST program.

“EVgo’s longstanding collaboration with GM has helped us bring public charging to communities in more than 30 states across the U.S., and as we work to deploy our first flagship destinations next year, we are thrilled to celebrate today’s milestone of reaching 2,000 fast charging stalls built through this program,” said EVgo President Dennis Kish. “Working with trusted automakers like GM has accelerated the buildout of our nationwide network, inspiring range confidence for today’s EV drivers and the drivers we will welcome to the EVgo network in the years the come.”

“Our collaboration with EVgo underscores our dedication to providing EV drivers with the best possible experience by expanding fast charging infrastructure across the country,” said Wade Sheffer, vice president, GM Energy. “We look forward to continuing to offer premium charging experiences for years to come.”

GM Defense has completed production of the first vehicles in support of the Diplomatic Security Service’s Heavy-Duty armored Sport Utility Vehicle (HD SUV) program. DSS is the law enforcement and security arm of the U.S. Department of State.

GM marked the milestone event with Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security Gentry Smith and other key stakeholders at GM Defense’s Concord, North Carolina-based Manufacturing and Customer Innovation Center.

GM Defense’s HD SUV solution, the Suburban Shield, features a new design with a unique body-on-frame chassis and suspension to support increased vehicle weight and performance requirements. The vehicle includes a high percentage of proven commercial-off-the-shelf parts from General Motors’ global supply chain, including the body, exterior, propulsion, interior, and brakes, for added reliability.

“Our Suburban Shield significantly enhances the quality, performance, and safety that is essential to the Diplomatic Security Service and provides our nation’s senior diplomats and their supporting teams a vehicle that enables their important mission for diplomacy and national security,” said Steve duMont, GM Defense president.

“I had the opportunity to try out the prototype,” Smith said. “It had good acceleration, handled better in the turns and the heavy-duty anti-lock braking system was far superior to our aftermarket vehicles. You could really feel the stability and performance in the redesigned chassis. The new HD SUV represents a new cost-effective era in the design and building of these badly needed vehicles to help us carry out our mission to ensure the safe and secure conduct of foreign policy in some of our most challenging and dangerous posts.”

GM Defense uses advanced manufacturing tools and techniques to ensure the highest level of quality and to realize cost efficiencies and flexibility, while helping the production team stay on schedule.

GM Defense won the contract to support DSS’ next generation HD SUV last year.  The program is intended to support DSS, in addition to more than a dozen other federal agencies.

Chevrolet BrightDrop 400 electric vans are hitting the road in major U.S. markets this year to support Walmart’s InHome delivery service.

The addition of BrightDrop vans to the Walmart last-mile fleet will support growth of the retailer’s InHome delivery service, help reduce carbon emissions, and provide drivers with safe, efficient, and comfortable vehicles.

Walmart InHome associates, who are trained to deliver groceries directly into customers’ homes, participated in a pilot with GM to assess the overall performance of the BrightDrop 400 in live operation scenarios, including city driving and customer deliveries.

Associates were impressed with BrightDrop’s 360-degree HD Surround Vision camera and blind-zone steering assist, battery range and reliability, and maneuverability. Here are some key takeaways they shared from the pilot:

  • The vans easily navigated congested roads and dense neighborhoods.
  • Automation features such as auto-closing doors boosted efficiency and improved the associate experience.
  • The low-step ergonomic design allowed easy entrance and exit of the vehicles, allowing for swift and efficient last-mile deliveries.

“Our BrightDrop vans are purpose-built to get the job done safely and efficiently while helping businesses like Walmart decarbonize their fleet,” said Sandor Piszar, vice president, GM Envolve. “The pilot program demonstrates that at the forefront of our design are  the hard-working drivers that deliver goods and services to customers every day.”

Walmart, which today announced the expansion of its InHome delivery program to 62 million households nationwide, will roll out the BrightDrop 400 vans  in Austin, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, northwest Arkansas, Orlando, and the San Francisco Bay area by the end of the year.

“With a focus on being people-led and tech-powered, we’re always looking for ways to enhance the associate experience and provide the best possible service to our customers. That’s why we’re so excited about the addition of the BrightDrop 400 to our InHome delivery fleet,” said Warren Moore, vice president, Dedicated Delivery, Walmart U.S. “During the pilot, we listened closely to our InHome associates’ feedback and were impressed by the vans’ performance in real-world scenarios.”

BrightDrop electric vans, produced at the CAMI Assembly plant, are equipped with advanced safety features to help ensure driver alertness and safety, low step-in height to ease driver ingress and egress and large infotainment screens for a tech-enabled driving experience.

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is now the fastest car ever built by an American auto manufacturer.

At a test track in Germany, General Motors President Mark Reuss drove a 2025 Corvette ZR1 233 mph, setting a top speed record unrivalled by any current production car priced under $1 million.

The Corvette team set this two-way average speed on the northbound and southbound straightaways of the High-Speed Oval Track at ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg, in a recent test in Papenburg, Germany.

“Setting the top-speed record in the Corvette ZR1 is a true triumph for Corvette and for Chevrolet, and also an exhilarating, surreal experience for me personally,” said Reuss. “With the current generation’s switch to mid-engine, we knew the outstanding performance and balance made this a real possibility. To go over there and get it done is a testament to the power of ZR1, and to the incredibly talented team that developed and built it.”

The ZR1 features the most powerful V8 engine ever produced in America by an auto manufacturer. Corvette shifted to mid-engine architecture in 2020, unlocking new levels of performance and innovation.

Chevrolet engineers leveraged GM’s deep software, modeling, and hardware development knowledge to set a new speed benchmark for American automakers.

Facts about Corvette ZR1’s record-setting run:

  • The ZR1 coupe which set the record had a standard chassis and aero package, with a standard spoiler with short wicker, carbon fiber ground effects, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and aluminum wheels.
  • Chevrolet engineers developed Top Speed Mode, exclusively for closed course use, which adjusts chassis control systems for maximum speed.
  • The ZR1 reached 233 mph with the engine at redline in sixth gear.
  • During testing, including Reuss’s record run, an engineer was in the passenger seat analyzing data in real-time.
  • The 233-mph run was not a one-off performance. Five engineers and both ZR1 development cars onsite exceeded 230 mph across multiple runs.
  • Papenburg provided optimal conditions, such as temperature and air density, for a high-speed test. Chevrolet engineers have previously set top speeds for the sixth and seventh generation Corvette ZR1, and the sixth generation Camaro ZL1 at this facility.
  • The ZR1 is the fastest car GM has ever produced.

The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV launches later this year in three distinct trims with more range, content, and price options for retail and commercial customers.

  • Range: With 492 miles, the 2025 Silverado EV with Max Range sets the new standard as the range leader for electric trucks.
  • Trims: The Silverado EV offers new technology, range, and design packages across Work Truck (WT), LT and RST trims.
  • Price: Starting MSRP as low as $57,095. Select retail models may qualify for the full $7,500 federal tax credit for eligible customers.

“Truck customers tell us range is one of the main barriers to considering an EV. The 2024 Silverado EV already was the range leader, and for this new model year we’ve set the bar even higher,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “A second barrier to entry is price, so we are fortifying the Silverado EV lineup by providing more choice. For 2025, we’re introducing an LT trim, offering a more affordable RST package and expanding WT offerings. This increased capability and accessibility is great news for the segment, the industry, and the brand.”
