Make Tracks to Fun and Adventure in the 2018 Chevrolet Trax

The Chevrolet Trax made its United States debut in 2015 as a comfortable and affordable subcompact SUV. Now that it’s 2018, what does the new model have to offer? Here are just some of the reasons that you’ll want to try out the new 2018 Chevrolet Trax.

Exterior

You can choose from three different trims with the Chevrolet Trax: the LS, LT, or Premier. The LT trim has features like LED daytime running lights, heated mirrors, remote vehicle start, and rails for roof-mounted luggage racks. New this year is the Redline Edition Package that you can purchase with the LT trim. This gives you things like black 18-inch wheels with red detailing and seats that are covered in black leatherette and cloth. Three new colors were also added this year, giving you the additional choices of Sandy Ridge Metallic, Cajun Red Tintcoat, and Storm Blue Metallic. If you opt for the highest trim, Premier, you will have a sunroof that is now a standard feature.

Performance

The Trax is an ideal city car. It is agile with quick steering, making it easy to park and giving it an impressive turning radius. The brakes are some of the strongest you will find, which is important in heavy city traffic for those quick stops. The 2018 model made no changes under the hood since last year. Only one engine is offered, the turbocharged 1.4-liter inline-four with 138 horsepower. It has a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, though all-wheel drive is available. The Chevrolet Trax gets about 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

Interior

With high seating, ample headroom, and large windows, the Chevrolet Trax feels spacious and roomy. It comes standard with an easy-to-use 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard with any Chevrolet Trax model, as is in-car Wi-Fi. Upgrade to the Premier trim to access features like heated seats and the before-mentioned sunroof. With the exception of the Redline Edition package for the LT trim, there have been no changes to the cabin since last year’s model.

If you are in need of extra cargo room in the back, the seats fold down easily to offer more room. The maximum cargo space you can plan on is 48.4 cubic feet.

Safety

You can drive with confidence when you drive the Chevrolet Trax, and it received a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to prove it. There are many safety features available with the Trax, such as blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Last year’s Driver’s Confidence II package on the Trax’s premier trims now comes standard and includes both lane-departure and forward-collision warnings.
