2025 Corvette ZR1 VIN 001 raises $3.7 million for Red Cross at charity auction

On Saturday, January 25th, the first retail production 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, VIN 001, sold at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction for $3.7 million. 100 percent of the hammer price of this Barrett-Jackson charity auction benefits the American Red Cross. Chevrolet selected the Red Cross to benefit disaster relief efforts in areas impacted by hurricanes Helene and Milton, as well as general relief to help people affected by disasters big and small, including wildfires, storms and countless other crises. This ties the record donation for a charity vehicle at Barrett-Jackson set in 2022 by the first retail 2023 Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition. 2025 Corvette ZR1 VIN 001 raised $3.7 million, tying the Barrett-Jackson record for charity vehicle donations. Minutes later, the winning bid was placed by Rick Hendrick, founder and CEO of Hendrick Companies. General Motors and Chevrolet maintain a long-standing relationship with the Red Cross and regularly support the organization’s disaster relief efforts. “The Red Cross is working around the clock to provide help and hope to people across the country impacted by disasters big and small, including wildfires, floods and other crises,” said Cliff Holtz, president and CEO of the American Red Cross. “We cannot thank Chevrolet enough for their tremendous generosity as we work together to offer critical relief and comfort to families and communities in dire need.” Rick Hendrick, founder and CEO of Hendrick Companies, placed the winning bid. Thanks to more than 15 years working with Barrett-Jackson and their charity auction program, Chevrolet has generated millions of dollars in donations for many great causes. This auction brings the total amount of money Chevrolet has raised at Barrett-Jackson charity auctions through the sale of eighth generation Corvettes to $12.9 million. The $3.7 million hammer price matches the record donation for a charity vehicle at Barrett-Jackson set in 2022 by the first retail 2023 Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition. Photos courtesy of Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. “General Motors has shared some of our biggest and most memorable moments when we have raised money together for charity on the Barrett-Jackson auction block,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Over the years, GM has entrusted Barrett-Jackson to sell some of their most coveted first-production vehicles for charity, and we’re honored to have continued that tradition in Scottsdale with the sale of the first retail production 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (Lot #3005). We made history by selling this rare collector vehicle for $3.7 million, while also helping the Red Cross fulfill its mission to feed and provide emotional support to victims of disasters. Between the recent hurricane on the East Coast and fires in California, the money is certainly needed.” 2025 Corvette ZR1 VIN 001 drew a huge crowd at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction. Quickest of the quick: the 2025 Corvette ZR1 does 0-60 in 2.3 seconds

The 2025 Corvette ZR1 with 1,064 horsepower is the quickest Corvette ever, achieving 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds 1 with the available ZTK Performance Package. The ZTK-equipped ZR1 also runs the quarter mile in 9.6 seconds 1. The standard ZR1 sprints to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and finishes the quarter mile in 9.7 seconds 1. “The 2025 Corvette ZR1 yet again exceeded our expectations,” said Josh Holder, chief engineer, Corvette. “Combined with a top speed record of 233 mph – which is unrivaled by any current production car priced under $1 million – the Corvette ZR1 delivers on its mission to provide customers unrelenting power.” A closer look demonstrates how ZR1 can be a standout track tool and a powerful grand touring vehicle all at once. ZR1 with ZTK, which includes the high-downforce Carbon Fiber Aero Package, bursts from a standstill on ultra-grippy Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, taking a clear edge to 60 mph. The equally balanced standard aero ZR1 sails to a 152 mph quarter mile trap speed, 2 mph faster than the ZTK-equipped ZR1. All tests were done with 93 octane pump fuel and were performed on a non-prepped drag strip surface. Quick, repeatable launches are enabled by Corvette’s standard Launch Control and Custom Launch Control features, found throughout the lineup from Stingray to ZR1. Launch Control is programmed to manage tire spin, transmission clutch application rate, and more, enabling rapid launches automatically. Custom Launch Control allows the driver to have more control to adjust for real-time conditions, optimizing acceleration runs by adjusting launch RPM and wheel slip targets from the steering wheel controls. 2025 Corvette ZR1 at a glance: A 5.5L, twin-turbocharged LT7 DOHC flat-plane crank V8 engine 1,064 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 828 lb-ft of torque at 6,000 rpm, per SAE guidelines — the most power ever from a factory Corvette and the most powerful V8 ever produced in America from an auto manufacturer The fastest car ever built by an American auto manufacturer, capable of 233 mph Purposeful carbon fiber aero package creating over 1,200 pounds of downforce at top speed Eighth-generation Corvette 0 to 60 mph stats: Stingray with available Z51 package: 2.9 seconds 1 Z06 with available Z07 package: 2.6 seconds 1 E-Ray: 2.5 seconds 1 ZR1 with available ZTK package: 2.3 seconds 1 General Motors (NYSE:GM) is driving the future of transportation, leveraging advanced technology to build safer, smarter, and lower emission cars, trucks, and SUVs. GM Defense completes first production vehicle for the State Depa

GM Defense completes first production vehicle for the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service

GM Defense has completed production of the first vehicles in support of the Diplomatic Security Service’s Heavy-Duty armored Sport Utility Vehicle (HD SUV) program. DSS is the law enforcement and security arm of the U.S. Department of State. GM marked the milestone event with Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security Gentry Smith and other key stakeholders at GM Defense’s Concord, North Carolina-based Manufacturing and Customer Innovation Center. GM Defense’s HD SUV solution, the Suburban Shield, features a new design with a unique body-on-frame chassis and suspension to support increased vehicle weight and performance requirements. The vehicle includes a high percentage of proven commercial-off-the-shelf parts from General Motors’ global supply chain, including the body, exterior, propulsion, interior, and brakes, for added reliability. (Photo by Steve Fecht for GM Defense) “Our Suburban Shield significantly enhances the quality, performance, and safety that is essential to the Diplomatic Security Service and provides our nation’s senior diplomats and their supporting teams a vehicle that enables their important mission for diplomacy and national security,” said Steve duMont, GM Defense president. “I had the opportunity to try out the prototype,” Smith said. “It had good acceleration, handled better in the turns and the heavy-duty anti-lock braking system was far superior to our aftermarket vehicles. You could really feel the stability and performance in the redesigned chassis. The new HD SUV represents a new cost-effective era in the design and building of these badly needed vehicles to help us carry out our mission to ensure the safe and secure conduct of foreign policy in some of our most challenging and dangerous posts.” GM Defense uses advanced manufacturing tools and techniques to ensure the highest level of quality and to realize cost efficiencies and flexibility, while helping the production team stay on schedule. GM Defense won the contract to support DSS’ next generation HD SUV last year.  The program is intended to support DSS, in addition to more than a dozen other federal agencies. Corvette ZR1 Top Speed Testing Team

Corvette ZR1 hits 233 mph with GM President Mark Reuss driving

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is now the fastest car ever built by an American auto manufacturer. At a test track in Germany, General Motors President Mark Reuss drove a 2025 Corvette ZR1 233 mph, setting a top speed record unrivalled by any current production car priced under $1 million. The Corvette team set this two-way average speed on the northbound and southbound straightaways of the High-Speed Oval Track at ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg, in a recent test in Papenburg, Germany. “Setting the top-speed record in the Corvette ZR1 is a true triumph for Corvette and for Chevrolet, and also an exhilarating, surreal experience for me personally,” said Reuss. “With the current generation’s switch to mid-engine, we knew the outstanding performance and balance made this a real possibility. To go over there and get it done is a testament to the power of ZR1, and to the incredibly talented team that developed and built it.” The ZR1 features the most powerful V8 engine ever produced in America by an auto manufacturer. Corvette shifted to mid-engine architecture in 2020, unlocking new levels of performance and innovation. Chevrolet engineers leveraged GM’s deep software, modeling, and hardware development knowledge to set a new speed benchmark for American automakers. Facts about Corvette ZR1’s record-setting run: The ZR1 coupe which set the record had a standard chassis and aero package, with a standard spoiler with short wicker, carbon fiber ground effects, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and aluminum wheels. Chevrolet engineers developed Top Speed Mode, exclusively for closed course use, which adjusts chassis control systems for maximum speed. The ZR1 reached 233 mph with the engine at redline in sixth gear. During testing, including Reuss’s record run, an engineer was in the passenger seat analyzing data in real-time. The 233-mph run was not a one-off performance. Five engineers and both ZR1 development cars onsite exceeded 230 mph across multiple runs. Papenburg provided optimal conditions, such as temperature and air density, for a high-speed test. Chevrolet engineers have previously set top speeds for the sixth and seventh generation Corvette ZR1, and the sixth generation Camaro ZL1 at this facility. The ZR1 is the fastest car GM has ever produced. Members of the Corvette team, including General Motors President Mark Reuss on the track in Papenburg, Germany. Preproduction models shown. 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV Range

2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV offers up to 492 Miles of range and new trim levels

The 2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV launches later this year in three distinct trims with more range, content, and price options for retail and commercial customers. Range: With 492 miles 1, the 2025 Silverado EV with Max Range sets the new standard as the range leader for electric trucks. Trims: The Silverado EV offers new technology, range, and design packages across Work Truck (WT), LT and RST trims. Price: Starting MSRP as low as $57,095 2. Select retail models may qualify for the full $7,500 federal tax credit for eligible customers. “Truck customers tell us range is one of the main barriers to considering an EV. The 2024 Silverado EV already was the range leader, and for this new model year we’ve set the bar even higher,” said Scott Bell, vice president, Chevrolet. “A second barrier to entry is price, so we are fortifying the Silverado EV lineup by providing more choice. For 2025, we’re introducing an LT trim, offering a more affordable RST package and expanding WT offerings. This increased capability and accessibility is great news for the segment, the industry, and the brand.” A smartphone showing the 2025 Silverado EV WT’s range of 492 miles on the myChevy app. 2025 Silverado EV Lineup Battery Pack Range 1 Starting MSRP 2 (Including $2,095 DFC) Work Truck Standard Range EPA estimate available later in the model year $57,095 Extended Range 422 miles (EPA-estimated) $69,495 Max Range 492 miles (EPA-estimated) $77,795 LT Extended Range 408 miles (EPA-estimated) $75,195 Extended Range with LT Premium Package 390 miles (EPA-estimated) $81,995 RST Extended Range 390 miles (EPA-estimated) $89,395 Max Range 460 miles 3 (GM-estimated) $97,895 Introducing Silverado EV LT The LT trim is available on the Silverado EV for the first time.
