The Chevrolet Blazer was introduced as an all-new model for 2019. It’s a sporty, stylish, and spacious mid-size SUV that is available in L, Blazer (2.0L, 2.5L, 3.6L), RS, and Premier trim levels. A few upgrades have been added for the 2020 model year, most notably a new engine so you can now choose from three power units.
Exterior Styling
With Camaro-inspired styling, the Blazer really stands out in the crowded SUV market. Even the base trim is well equipped and features high-intensity discharge headlights, ultra-thin LED daytime running lights, body-color door handles, heated power side mirrors, 18-inch bright alloy wheels, and LED taillights.
The Blazer 2.0L adds rear privacy glass, while the 3.6L with leather offers a programmable power liftgate, auto-dimming side mirrors with turn signals, and black roof rails. The sports-oriented RS has a unique gloss-black grille, a hands-free liftgate, and 20-inch dark wheels, while the Premier features silver roof rails and chrome-accented door handles.
Power and Performance
Powering the L and Blazer 2.5L is a 193 horsepower 2.5-liter engine producing 188 pound-feet of torque. The 2.0L features the new turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that delivers 230 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Under the hood of the Blazer 3.6L, RS, and Premier trims is a 308 horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 delivering 270 pound-feet of torque. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard.
All engines feature start/stop technology but, new for 2020, this function can now be disabled. With the 2.0-liter and V-6 engines, you can opt for an all-wheel drive. V-6 Blazers can tow up to 4,500 pounds when equipped with the tow package which now offers trailer hitch guidance.
Interior Features
L-trimmed Blazers offer premium cloth seating with 60/40 split-folding second-row seats. Folding the rear seats gives you a generous 64.2 cubic feet of cargo capacity. You’ll also find keyless entry and start, cruise control, a 4.2-inch multi-information display, dual-zone climate control, and a leather-trimmed steering wheel. The multimedia system includes an 8-inch touch screen, smartphone integration, a Wi-Fi hot spot, voice activation, Bluetooth wireless, six-speaker audio, and USB ports.
Blazer 2.0L has an eight-way power driving seat and satellite radio, while the 3.6L Leather adds remote start, perforated leather seating, heated front seats, and a power passenger seat. RS trim features an 8-inch multi-information display, ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, a 120-volt power outlet, integrated navigation, and an SD card reader. Premier models have ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a premium Bose eight-speaker audio system.
Driver Assistance
Standard safety features include electronic stability control, traction control, tire pressure monitor, tire fill alert, a rear camera, and a teen driver system. 3.6L Leather adds lane-change alert, side blind-spot alert, rear cross-traffic warning, and rear parking sensors.
Among the additional available features are a following-distance indicator, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, forward automatic braking, front pedestrian braking, HD surround vision, and a safety alert driver’s seat.
