Ivar's Salmon House You'll see Ivar's all over the city as casual Fish Bars where you can quickly grab fish and chips to go. This is how the restaurant originally started back in the 1930s, but they've now expanded to more formal restaurants. At Ivar's Salmon House, try the fried Alaska cod, which is the same recipe they've had since they opened. They also have pan-fried oysters and halibut and chips. For something different, try their seafood cocktail or Penn Cove mussels to start your meal. For your entree, try the coho silver salmon or blackened rockfish tacos. Anthony's Homeport If you're looking to treat yourself, visit Anthony's Homeport. This is a great place to come to celebrate a special occasion, such as a birthday or an anniversary. Their menu always varies, as it depends on the chef's daily selection of fresh seafood. To start with, try the tempura asparagus or the baked Dungeness crab, shrimp, and artichoke dip. Popular choices for dinner are the roasted garlic crab, Alaska lingcod and chips, and mussels and chips. Their happy hour is every day from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a good way to try samplings of their food for less. You'll have no problem finding good seafood when you're in Seattle. Seattle is the perfect departure point for your visit to British Columbia, and Victoria is probably the closest and perfect destination. Seattle International Film Festival Film lovers can't miss the Seattle International Film Festival. Every year over 150,000 people go to the festival making it the most attended film festival in the United States. This year will be the 44th annual film festival and will take place from May 17 to June 10. Over these four weeks, you can see over 400 films from 80 different countries. Festival passes and packages are now on sale with early bird pricing available until April 13. You can choose passes that allow you to see a set number of films or you can get packages that also include the opening and closing night galas. Debacle Fest The Debacle Fest is an annual music festival that is usually held at the Columbia City Theater. The festival showcases all types of music such as electronic, metal, techno, noise, drone, and synth. Last year's lineup included performances from Greg Kelley, Galaxy Research, Volcanic Pinnacles, Nordra as well as dozens more. The music festival is a one-day event that usually falls on the first Saturday of May and goes on well into the wee hours of the morning. This is great for couples and groups of friends who love live music. more Seattle Bike-n-Brews If you love riding bikes and drinking craft beers, why not combine the two into this fun May event? The Seattle Bike-n-Brews race goes along the Duwamish and Green River trails and takes in the Seattle city views throughout the journey. There are two route options for the race, one is 27 miles of flat, paved roads and the other is 37 miles and finishes at Odin Brewing. Your registration fee includes your race fee, lunch after the race, and two beer tickets, one for the midway point of the race and one for the end. You also get a Bike-n-Brew souvenir t-shirt once you complete the race. This year's event will take place Sunday, May 6. The race starts at 9 a.m., and you have until 3:30 p.m. to finish the course. Metropolitan Fashion Week Seattle Closing Gala This is the perfect event for fashion-lovers. It's an international fashion show that features exclusive designs by fashion and costume designers, so you'll be able to see some stunning and unique designs. The event is very formal, so men usually wear tuxes and women wear gowns, so if you enjoy dressing up, this is a great excuse. Looking for a few clever hacks for detailing your Chevy? Spring is the perfect time to detail your car. It's likely that you've kept your windows shut all winter thanks to the icy winds, freezing temperatures, and snow. S o this spring, try a few of these detailing hacks to get the interior of your car smelling fresh and sparkling clean. Getting Touch Stains Out Once you do a quick vacuum of your seats, you might find a few stubborn stains which can be a big pain to get out. One of the most common stains in a Chevy is a coffee stain. This is easy to get out. Mix two parts water to one part white vinegar and blot the mixture on the coffee stain. If the stain is ink from a pen or marker, use rubbing alcohol and water or hairspray if you have it. Let it soak into the stain for a few minutes before blotting the stain and rinsing it out. If the stain is from grease, you'll want something a little bit stronger. If the stain is still wet, try blotting it with a dry towel to help absorb the grease. If the stain is dry, you'll need to squirt a few drops of WD-40 on the stain and then blot it with a cloth. Avoid wiping the stain as this will spread it rather than help to remove it. more Cleaning the Little Crevices Vacuuming the seats and cleaning the windows is the easy part, but how do you get the dust out of the little crevices like your air vents. If you have a can of compressed air, this is a great way to blow the dust out of those hard to reach places. You can clean the air vents, the areas around all the cars buttons, and even around the edges of all the windows. Once you blow the dust away, you'll want to go over those same areas with a cleaner. Get yourself a small sponge brush that you might use to paint and dampen it with your preferred car cleaner. Then you can use it to get into those same tough places and give it a deep clean. Scrub Grime and Dirt Away If your car has a vinyl interior, you'll likely have dirt embedded in it that you can't see. The most common areas for dirt and grime buildup are your door handles and the center console near your cup holders. Start with a regular kitchen sponge. Use the rougher side of the sponge with a little bit of car cleaner to clean all the vinyl inside the car. If you still have stuck on bits of grime and dirt, grab a toothbrush that you no longer use and go back over those surfaces pushing hard with the bristles. This should help get rid of all those dirt marks. Detailing your Chevy doesn't have to cost a fortune. With these clever hacks, a few household items, and some elbow grease, you can get your car looking and smelling like new in a few hours. Seattle might be known for its coffee, but it's also a pretty great city for craft beer. These are some of the best breweries in the city that you absolutely need to try. Rooftop Brewing Company The Rooftop Brew Co is a Seattle-based brewery that is also a bar. The brewery is located on West Nickerson Street in downtown Seattle and has a nice selection of beers that changes depending on what they're brewing at the time. They usually have at least 10 beers on tap as well as tons more in bottles that you can try. If you really love their beers, you can buy kegs for your next party with your favorite Rooftop Brewing Company beer in it. The brewery focuses solely on beer, so you won't be able to order food while you're here. Not to worry, though, instead of cooking for you, Rooftop Brewing Company invites local food trucks to park outside the restaurant most nights so that you can grab your food and bring it up to Rooftop to enjoy with your beers. Reuben's Brews Reuben's Brews is an award-winning small brewery where you can enjoy all types of craft beers. The founder and brewmaster, Adam, is originally from the U.K. and he's brought his taste for British ales to the Pacific Northwest. more They have four year-round beers that are always available on tap, an IPA, a pilsner, a gose, and a porter. For the rest of the year, they brew different seasonal beers like an Imperial pumpkin in September or a Breakfast stout in December. They don't serve food but have different food trucks outside the bar each night to choose from. You can find taco trucks, Korean food trucks, and barbecue trucks. If you don't see something you like, you can order a pizza to be delivered to the bar, too. Each night you can take part in a different event at the tap room. Bring your friends on Tuesdays for tacos and trivia night. Every Thursday, Reuben's chooses a different charity and $1 from every beer is donated to that charity. Urban Family Brewing Co The Urban Family Brewing Co is a small family-owned brewery in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle. They love creating new beers and flavor combinations. You'll probably never see the same beer twice when you visit, but you'll be sure to find a new beer to love each time. They have 16 taps with everything from guava beer to an Imperial porter. They also always have a different hard cider on tap for those that don't love beer. This is definitely the brewery to try if you enjoy unique beers. They use a lot of sour fruits in their beers like cranberries, blackberries, and nectarines. Similar to the other breweries on this list, they don't serve food but are more than happy for you to bring your own to the bar to enjoy with your beers. There are a lot of reasons to get behind the wheel of the new 2018 Chevrolet Malibu. It has received several awards for its safety as well as its fuel efficiency. It's had a few changes that we're certain will make driving more fun than ever before. Power and Performance Under the hood of the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu is plenty of power. It comes standard with a 1.5-liter turbocharger DOHC four-cylinder direct injection engine. This engine gives you 163 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Some trim levels like the Malibu Premier, come with a 2.0-liter turbocharger DOHC four-cylinder direct injection engine. With this engine, you get 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Both engines give the Malibu one of the highest fuel economies in its class. With the 1.5-liter engine, you get fuel economy of 36 miles per gallon highway and 27 miles per gallon city. With the 2.0-liter engine, you get fuel economy of 32 miles per gallon highway and 22 miles per gallon city. A Hybrid Model Another nice thing about the new 2018 Malibu is that it is available as a hybrid. With the hybrid you get a 1.8-liter hybrid DOHC four-cylinder engine with a hybrid propulsion system and variable valve timing. The hybrid trim level offers the same luxury interiors as the LT trim level, but it comes with its own instrument cluster designed specifically for the hybrid. It shows you everything that is happening with the batter and the engine and how much mileage is remaining. more Spacious and Comfortable Interior The 2018 Malibu is more spacious than ever. It offers some of the best head and legroom of any vehicle in its class. Redesigned from the ground up for Chevrolet's truck centennial, the 2019 Silverado is getting an update. The whole family of Silverados made their introduction at Detroit's North American International Auto Show, where GM announced a total of eight Silverado models loaded with cool new goodies. There's a new truck in this generation for everyone. Let's go ahead and take a closer look at four of the most surprising changes Chevy made to the 2019 Silverado. Return of the Diesel Engine Chevy's half-ton truck is getting six different engine and transmission combinations, including a 3.0-liter inline V6 Duramax diesel paired up with a mighty 10-speed automatic transmission. There will also be two eight-cylinder options: a 5.3-liter engine and a 6.2-liter engine. The new Silverado is gaining a Dynamic Fuel Management system that can "turn off" half of the engine's cylinders when working under light loads to improve overall fuel economy. Conservative estimates suggest this system can increase fuel savings up to 12 percent without sacrificing engine size and performance. Lighter Chassis and Frame The new Chevy Silverado has lost some serious weight — 450 pounds to be exact. The slim down came as a result of a whole bunch of aluminum on everything that swings, like the hood, doors, and tailgate. In the race to haul more stuff but still save on gas, GM has stepped up the Silverado to match consumer's demands. The drop in poundage is expected to boost fuel economy and reduce wear and tear on panel hinges. The new chassis is made of high-strength steel that still weighs 88-pounds less than previous truck frames. more A New Trim — The LT Trailboss The all-new for 2019 LT Trailboss trim reveals an extra 2 inches of suspension lift. Plus, you can upgrade to the Z71 Off-Road Package that's jammed full of sports features like Rancho shocks that deliver a smooth ride over all types of terrain. Unlike aftermarket suspensions, this one is thoroughly tested and warrantied by GM. The LT Trailboss is a more ruggedly capable version of the Chevy ZR2 that inspired it, with 18-inch Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires and Eaton heavy-duty automatic locking rear differential. Made to Work The 2019 Silverado features a bed floor made from high-strength steel that is 7 inches wider than last year's model. It offers a total of 21 cargo tie-downs and the industry-first power tailgate that operates at the touch of a button on a key fob or in the cabin. Extra attention went into the vast collection of storage bins packed into the new Silverado. Two 10-liter bins are integrated into the second-row seatbacks for stashing electronics or snacks, and there's one large 24-liter storage tray under the second-row seats that's long enough for a fishing pole, yet deep enough to hold groceries. Pricing and what sort of upgrades we can expect to the cabin and safety technology, payload and towing capacities, and the anticipated fuel economy estimates are all anxiously pending Chevy's announcement. Chevrolet is a reliable manufacturer that produces many great small and subcompact vehicles. We're particularly impressed by the 2018 Cruze and 2018 Sonic, but choosing between the two can present a challenge. We've broken down some features of each car to help you determine which is right for you. Design The 2018 Cruze is available as both a sedan and a hatchback, depending on your stylistic preferences. We like the hatchback design, thanks to its ease of access when it comes to loading and unloading your gear. However, both versions are equally sporty, offer plenty of storage space, and come in a variety of eye-catching paint jobs. You're sure to appreciate the projector-beam headlamps, available LED daytime running lamps, and heated seats. The 2018 Sonic also makes a great first impression. Like the Cruze, it comes in both sedan and hatchback versions and features flourishes like LED daytime running lamps. Rear 60/40 folding seats also provide a surprising amount of cargo space for a compact car. What we really like about the 2018 Sonic is its customizability. You can outfit your Sonic in Orange Burst Metallic paint and add in any number of fun accessories, making this car a great way to express your own style. Power and Performance You might not expect a huge engine in a compact car, but the 2018 Cruze has more than enough power to do the job. The standard option is a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine capable of generating 153 horsepower and 177 pounds per foot of torque. An available 1.6-liter diesel engine is also turbocharged, offering up to 137 horsepower and 240 pounds per foot of torque. The Sonic is roughly comparable to the performance of the Cruze, with a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine that generates up to 138 horsepower. You can also upgrade to an ECOTEC 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine, although this does not offer any increase in horsepower. Both engines provide you with excellent gas mileage, but neither is quite as efficient as the 2018 Cruze. If you value fuel efficiency, the Cruze offers slightly better value. more Price Of course, you can't make an intelligent purchasing decision without taking cost into consideration. The 2018 Cruze has a modest MSRP of $16,975. This is a great price for an entry-level car packed with as many features as the Cruze, but you can also select from several upgrades. A fully-outfitted Premier Cruze comes at a price of $24,895, while opting for the diesel version of the Cruze will run you about $26,795. The 2018 Sonic might be an even better bargain for budget-conscious consumers. This robust little compact has an MSRP of $15,295. The Premier version, representing the highest level of trim, tops out at $22,195. This is a significant savings over the price of the 2018 Cruze, but whether it's enough to be the deciding factor is likely to vary from driver to driver. As you can see, there are plenty of reasons to prefer either the 2018 Cruze or the 2018 Sonic. There's no wrong answer when you're choosing between two sporty, reliable compact cars.
