This modern vehicle comes in two trims; the LT and the Premier. Both trims are similar but with added luxury available on the Premier, such as the driver confidence and the comfort and convenience packages, leather upholstery and additional rear seat luxuries, and the optional Bose audio system. The LT comes standard with 17-inch aluminum wheels, self-sealing tires, keyless access, and automatic climate control.
Engine
<p>With its front-wheel drive and electric propulsion system, the Bolt has a capable horsepower of 200 with 266 pound-feet of torque and a single speed direct-drive transmission. Its range is an impressive 238 miles when fully charged, allowing for road trips with some route planning for available charging stations. </p> <p>The vehicle offers two drive modes. Normal mode feels like a gas-powered car with idle creep. EV's do not usually creep forward when the brake is released, so it is one way to grow accustomed to EV motoring for newbies. The second mode, which takes a little getting used to for those new to EV's, is how electric cars usually feel with stiffer braking and no idle creep to enable more-efficient driving.</p>
Performance
Due to the car's low-slung 60-kWh batteries, the Bolt EV handles well on the road with an even weight distribution and smooth steering and braking. Winding roads are not an issue and the acceleration is surprisingly capable, allowing the driver to feel more confident. The electric motor is smooth and the single-speed, direct-drive transmission never shifts. All in all, it's a great drive with nothing to complain about.
Interior
<p>Although the Bolt looks small on the outside, it's spacious inside due to the placement of the battery and the positioning of the wheels. Five people can be comfortably seated in the car with plenty of shoulder room, legroom, and headroom, allowing for easy access. Cargo space behind the rear seats measures 16.9 cubic feet, and when the rear seat is folded down it expands to 56.6 cubic feet. </p> <p>Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available through a 10.2-inch touch screen. An 8-inch display unit is part of the instrument cluster. Satellite radio, six-speaker audio, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi with up to 3 gigabytes of data (free for a month) for seven devices are standard features.</p>
Safety Features
A number of safety features are available with the 2019 Bolt EV. These include forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-keep assist with lane departure warning, rear vision camera, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change alert with side blind zone Alert, rear park assist, rear camera mirror, and Surround Vision. The Bolt received a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and a score of "Good" from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
