<p>The LT and Premier have a range extender engine that powers a front-wheel drive drivetrain. This is partnered with an 18 kilowatt-hour 300 V lithium-ion battery that reaches a full charge in 13 hours using a 110 V charger and in 4.5 hours using a 220 V charger. The range extender engine - a 1.5-liter variable valve timing engine with a direct injection DOHC 4-cylinder - amplifies the vehicle's driving range after the battery is depleted. This system delivers 149 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque.</p><p>The low emissions package is available on both trims, and modifies the engine and catalytic converter so that it meets transitional zero emissions vehicle criteria in certain states.</p>
Performance
The Volt is an incredibly efficient vehicle, providing an EPA-estimated 420-mile driving range. With an EPA-estimated fuel efficiency of 106 miles per gallon equivalent, the Volt has an electronic-only driving range of 53 miles. Both trims also feature power steering, an extended range electric drive propulsion system, and a StabiliTrak electronic stability control system.
Interior
<p>The Volt's interior comes equipped with USB ports, an auxiliary input jack, a rear window defogger, single-zone automatic climate control, front bucket seats, and rear 60/40 split-folding bench seats. The LT has a six-speaker sound system, and the Premier has a Bose premium eight-speaker sound system. The Premier also gets leather-appointed seats. </p><p>The upgraded sound system and the leather seats are available as options on the LT. A cargo net, premium all-weather floor mats, and an all-weather cargo mat are a few of the available extras for both trims.</p>
Safety Features
The LT and Premier have a comprehensive 10 air bag system. Both trims come standard with a rear vision camera, a tire pressure monitoring system, OnStar services, and Chevrolet's Teen Driver safety system. The LT has the option to add rear park assist, and the Premier can add lane keep assist, forward automatic braking, forward collision alert, and low speed forward automatic braking. The Premier also has automatic parking assist as an exclusive standard feature.
