Engine (Power)
The standard engine on a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe is a 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 that produces up to 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It connects to the wheels with a six-speed automatic. You can expect gas mileage figures of 16 for city and 23 for highway. That's not all though. The 2018 adds the RST package, short for Rally Sport Truck, and along with some performance upgrades, the package adds the Silverado's 6.2-liter V8 engine that gets 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
Like its cousin, the Silverado, the 2018 Tahoe offers two drivetrains: rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Despite the large size, the two V8 engines give the Tahoe plenty of power to spare on highway acceleration, and that's even if you get close to the vehicle's towing max of 8,600 pounds. Either way, the Tahoe offers a smooth ride despite its truck frame, and if you get the Premier, you'll enjoy Magnetic Ride Control. With this feature, a special magnetic fluid in the shocks will react and absorb bumps so they don't transfer to the frame.
Interior
<p>Thanks to an available front-row bench, the 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe can carry up to nine people. You can get the captain's chairs for the second row and give seven passengers a much more comfortable ride. The cargo area starts out at 15.3 cubic feet and extends to 94.7 cubic feet once you fold down the back rows. With Tahoe's automatic climate control, individual temperatures in all three zones are maintained electronically for a pleasant ride.</p><p>As a full-size vehicle, the Tahoe also comes with excellent available features like Head-Up Display, leather seats, and a backseat Blu-Ray Entertainment System that comes with a 9-inch display and two wireless headphones.</p>
Safety Features
The 2018 Tahoe starts with safety features like a rearview camera, daytime running lights, a theft-deterrent system, StabiliTrak stability control system, and six air bags, plus a set of rear parking sensors. You can also add driver assistance features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Collision Detection, Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Change Alert, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
