Engine (Power)

Drivers can pick from three available engine options depending on the trim and cab selected. For example, the WT, LS, Custom, and LT Z71 come standard with a 4.3-liter ECOTEC3 V-6 that delivers 305 pound-feet of torque. This can be upgraded to a 5.3-liter ECOTEC3 V-8, which is the standard engine on the LTZ, LTZ Z71, and High Country. This option gets 355 horsepower. The final engine choice is a 6.2-liter ECOTEC3 V-8 which is available on the LTZ, LTZ Z71, and High Country and yields 460 pound-feet of torque.

Performance

The 2018 Silverado 1500 is a workhorse that gets up to 420 horsepower and has a towing capacity of up to 9,400 pounds. The 6.2-liter V-8 is the most powerful engine, and the 4.3-liter V-6 is the most efficient. The V-6 on a two-wheel drive 1500 gets 18 miles per gallon in the city and 24 on the highway.

Interior

The interior can be upgraded, depending on the trim selected, with the WT Convenience Package, Custom Convenience Package, Custom Value Package, LT Convenience Package, LT Plus Package, LTZ Plus Package, or Enhanced Driver Alert Package. These packages add many interior features that are only standard on the highest trims. For example, the High Country starts with carpeted floor mats, a 110-volt power outlet, and a wireless charging pad.

Safety Features

<p>All 2018 Silverado 1500s come with Teen Driver technology as a standard safety feature. This automatically turns on systems like blind spot monitoring, forward collision alert, and automatic braking. It also collects data, such as maximum speed traveled and number of brake warnings, for parents to review. </p><p>The 1500 High Country comes standard with forward collision alert, high beam assist, lane keep assist with departure warning, and other advanced safety systems.</p>
