<p>The base engine on all four 2018 Chevy Equinox trims is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo that offers 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and gets an estimated 26 miles per gallon in the city and 32 on the highway. If you get an LT or Premier trim, you can upgrade to a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with a nine-speed transmission that generates 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.</p><p>You can also swap to a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that pumps out 137 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. With this, you are estimated to get 40 miles per gallon on the highway.</p>
Performance
Chevrolet's sharp steering means the 2018 Equinox drives like a much smaller vehicle, and its comfortable suspension will keep a bumpy road from ruining your day. With the base engine or the diesel, the Equinox can tow up to 1,500 pounds, but the 2.0-liter option gives you up to 3,500 pounds.
