<p>The gasoline engine that comes in most 2018 Cruze trims is a 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbo design that delivers 153 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. With it comes either a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission, and depending on your choice, the fuel efficiency figures range from 28-30 miles per gallon in the city and 37-40 on the highway.</p><p>The Diesel trim gets a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo; this engine manages 137 horsepower, 240 pound-feet of torque, and 30 miles per gallon in the city and 52 on the highway.</p>
Performance
The engines in the 2018 Chevy Cruze might be small, but their turbochargers give them a lot more punch than you'd expect. They're also very efficient thanks to the low weight and the start/stop feature that comes with the automatic. It shuts down the engine on complete stops to save on idling fuel costs. On top of that, Chevrolet's commitment to exciting driving means that the Cruze has both great handling and a smooth suspension for its class.
Interior
<p>The LS and L trims have 14.8 cubic feet to spare in the trunk, while the LT and Premier have 13.9 cubic feet of space. Of course, the hatchback design beats them both with 22.7 cubic feet in the back and 47.2 cubic feet of room after you fold the second row. The Cruze also comes with plenty of modern features. Depending on the trim, you can expect things like an eight-way power adjustable driver's seat, automatic climate control, and an 8-inch touch screen for the infotainment system.</p><p>There are premium features like built-in navigation, remote start, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Bose premium sound system, and Driver Information Center for the gauge cluster.</p>
Safety Features
The 2018 Chevrolet Cruze defines safety thanks to standard features like a five-year OnStar Basic Plan, rear vision camera, StabiliTrak stability control system, and 10 air bags. You also get Chevy's Teen Driver system, a program that lets you set limits on things like speed and speaker volume based on which key turns on the engine. More advanced models also get driver assistance features like Forward Collision Alert, Rear Park Assist, and Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist.
